Hi Veritee I still feel cyncial about putting that I am recovered on the site but I am. The problem with saying that you are recovered is that you get that awful feeling that it may one day come back. I know deep down that it does not but having suffered it once you always feel a bit vulnerable don't you? I knew I had PNI after three weeks of having my daughter, I in fact knew I was going to suffer it straightaway as in hospital for the first night I was scared stiff of her and everyone else around me. I knew that it was going to be very difficult from the outset. However you will all be pleased to know that after 1 year I was totally recovered. Jessica is now a beautiful little girl aged 2 years and 4 months. It has been sometime since I have been recovered but I still help some girls from time to time and still check out the website when I have time. All I can say is that you do recover and people recover in different stages but I am 100% recovered !!! I hope this gives massive hope to all you suffers out there!!! ;D

Lisa Thanks. . That's just the sort of encourgement we all need!I'm getting there but not 100% yet. It's definitely speeding up though as I do more and my confidence grows again (and of course as baby gets stronger). Having a supportive husband and counsellor and a very understanding and caring little girl has also been very important to me. Thanks again for remembering those of us who are not there yet.. Hopefulx

Hi Lisa
Its great to hear from you - and also to hear that you are fully recovered.
And it makes it feel worth it to know that you did find this forum helpful and stilll vist now and then.
I do know what you mean though about it being like 'tempting fate' to say you are recovered - I still feel this one and it has been at least 10 years for me.
But yes - I feel you are always vulnerable once you have experienced this sort of illness - least that has been my experience -
I suppose before you have a mental or emotional illness you just do not realize it is possible to feel so awful when you are not actually physically ill! and think a mental/emotional illness is something that happens to to others - and it will never happen to you.
But once it does , you become aware that it can happen to anyone and it could possibly happen to you again.
I feel very lucky for everyday that I remain well.
It took me longer than you - I was ill for about 5 years - but as you say we all get there in the end even if at different speeds, but we all recover in time.
All the best to you Lisa and you are welcome here anytime
Veritee

this poll is quite encouraging to me , ive gone past the year and nowhere near better so hey there seems like a pattern here for the most of us so there is light at the end of the tunnel then , four to five years is better then forever eh which is how it feels sometimes
