Ive had pni for 6 months now, although i feel better, i still have really horrible physical symptoms. I believe that i have some serious illness that no one is picking up on. Ive had blood tests and a mri scan which have all come nack normal but i still keep getting a weird sensation in my head like someone is pouring cold water down my head, its horrible. I m now thinking its something really bad. please help.

HI Melly
Firstly, welcome to the site. I hope you find it as supportive as I have.
Please feel reassured by all the tests you have had that nothing is seriously wrong with you. PNI can make you think all sorts which can make you worry about everything and anything so the worrying you are physically ill is quite natural. The dr's would tell you if the tests had shown up anything and the mri scan is a very thorough test that would have shown anything up if it was there.
Love Marion.

thankyou for your replie. I know by looking at your posts that u have had it tough. I get feeling that im not real, it now mostly at home as i dont like this house for some reason. but there is this doubt in my mind that what if, if the docs are wrong. I now feel that when i go to the docs they dont even look at me now and just tell me its anxiety. Is anyone else really convinced that something is up with them? im so scared, i am even considering going up to a and e to makesure.

Hi Melly,
Welcome to the sitex
I had awful physical symptoms too. Like you had very tests - all came back clear - but felt so ill, thought something must be seriously wrong.
I had lots of pain and sensations in and around my head which really frightened me. I no longer get this, the physical symptoms have eased off.
I always got everything checked out, just for peace of mind - don't worry what the GP thinks, it's their job to check you over.
How are you now? Hopefulxxx

Hi Melly
I have always suffered with teh physical stuff as opposed to the depression. And one of them has been that feeling of someone pouring cold water over your head. I went on an anxiety management course not long ago and learned that this was a part of the anxiety. I nearly kissed 2 of the women on the course when they told me they had experienced the same thing, thought I was going mad!
I think it is always sensible to get yourself checked out, I have had dozens of test since having the PNI. I know it stinks hun, but we are here for you and can TOTALLy sympathise with you.
Are you having many more wierd physical symptoms?

I am so sorry you are suffering this So many of us have sensations like this when we have PNI - and it awful.
...............and so hard to describe to anyone who has not had it. But please know that you are not alone. I can say that for me it has totally gone, but I did have physical symptoms for quite a while.
Please believe you will recover as you will and most recover from PNI although it feels at the time we never will!!
It is very late and I have to go to bed - but will check tomorrow so if you want to tell us how you are it will be lovely to hear from you

i feel alot like me now most of the time which is a hugh improvment. If i just had depression i could understand, but these physical symptoms scare me so much. I had this illness for 6 months and baby is now 9 months old. I di not get this after my first two children so i cant ubderstand. Im conviced i have everything and i meen everything. At one point i was too scared to do anything, but now im just scared to be on my own or at home and i dont know why. Im having counselling which is not helping yet. I use to blackout when i went out and had this awful sinking sensation in my tummy. Been really suffering and im scared that i have this illness that nobody has picked up. Its killing my family, i love my children so much and i scared im gonna end up in a mental home.

im not on meds at the moment. Got refered to a cpn and decided that meds were making me more anxious about my health. Do have meds in my cupboard which the doc gave me the other day and will take them if really need them. Took meds before for 6 weeks and although they were a lifesaver to start with as i was completly high, i worried more and more over taking them. Tried everything, vitamin, saint johns, different diet to a point where i got obsessed about the whole pnd and things to do to make me better. Now i dont take anything, i try not to obsess about this and although i do have this with me 24/7. Does it ever go. Tried to work a few weeks ago doing home care. But with in a few weeks, some people died which sent me right back down. not the job for me. This morning i was convined i was leaking brain fluid as my ears keep leaking. I cant understand how and why my head feels so weird, cold sensations, electric shock feeling, ears leaking. arrggg. tell it to go away. One point i though i could perdict things which is totally mad, if only and i would be rich. Will this cold sensation go? It started first when i took my first anti d months ago and although i dont take them now, the feeling wont go away. If i was hyperventalating i would agree it is panic. I know what panic feels like and this dont feel like panic.

Hi
I'm so sorry what you're going through and like many of the ladies here I suffered terribly from real physical symptoms which largely preceded any emotional ones. I used to have the 'electric shocks' you described in my head - sort of shooting pains, as well as other types of headaches which I'd never suffered from before, not to mention other symptoms. Like you I would panic that I was dyign and this became an obsession.
You've done all the right things - you've had quite detailed tests done so somebody wouldn have picked up if you had something serious or to be honest any thing that showed up. I too had numerous blood tests, CT scan, saw countless eye speicalists, doctors and an neurologists. Everything was fine .Not one of them came up with an explanation for my symptoms. I too tried vitamins and various other things but nothing work until antids.
I'msure in time they will go. My anxiety based synptoms eased up quite quickly after taking antids. ie numb patches, headaches incl the electric shock like ones, But others lasted for a good year although got lesser overtime.
What meds did dr give you?
Thinking of you
Monica

Hi Melly
After my first week on the meds I was ready to flush them down the toilet. They meade me feel 10 x worse than normal. But then graduslly things started to pick up. I am on escitalopram which is a generic make of citalopram, it works the same but has less side effects.
Like you I was always typing on here that I just didnt believe that my wierd symptoms were anxiety related as i just didnt feel anxious. And i could have hit the first dr to tell me my probs were pni related. But now i have been on the meds for s while and the symptoms have started to ease i see that that is exactly what it was.
How has today been for you?

Melly I have been on so many anti d's (cipralex, mirtazipine, venlafaxine to name but a few) but got side effects off them all. I just felt weird on them. Eventually they tried me on duloxetine which is a new one - no side effects at all and I feel like my old delf again. Keep trying on the anti d's - one is sure to suit you.
Love Marion.
