Power walking is good. Can't wait for my run tomorrow, hope the weather holds out. I don't like the idea of jogging in the rain & my 11 year old will not come if it rains.

I ran on Saturday around the park in the rain with my son, well it was more a little jog, a power walk and a stroll really, but got us out and about.
Did you manage the park WG?

It doesn't matter though does it! If we do something and get half an hour out on our own it is better that vacuuming or ironing - eventhough you have to do that when you get back! Wouldn't it be great it you could go out for an hour and come back to calm and jobs done instead of chaos???!!
Go girls!!

Hi Rach, I found it helpful to see that you said it can take a while to work up to being able to run - this has made it seem much for achievable, although I am still at the power walking stage really, but as you say, even this helps quite a bit Hx

Well I have done.... bob all. I have done really badly. There always seems something more important to do! I am so stressed about the demands on my time and the lack of time with my LO and the fact that I have not even found 10 mins to run round the park is pathetic!
Sorry, I have turned this into a moan thread!
Message for this week: MUST TRY HARDER!!

I agree Winegirl. I have been doing this since Feb and can honestly say that - at the very most - I have managed 2 runs a week. Some weeks it's 1 and some it's none. It drives me mad that I can't even find 45 minutes to go out for a jog.
What I would say, if you really want to do it is to find someone else to do it with. As I said, I joined this club and I pick someone up on the way who doesn't drive so if I don't go, I let her down. It's also kind of official that I am out Tues night at running club. Gives it a bit more credibility with the hub!!
Keep going!!

WG, I think that all running clubs have different groups. Mine has 3 or 4, and I obviously run with the rubbish group. Some groups are more competitive than others so it is worth just checking it out and looking around.
In my group there are people of all ages, all shapes and sizes and some do the full run, some go back half way, some walk, some run etc etc....I am so glad I decided to joing because, unless it is an emergency, Tuesday is MY night and I go running!!!! Anything I can get on top of that is a bonus!

Crap. I managed a jog round the park (about 400m) and just about had a cardiac! have been looking for running clubs in my area but they all seem to be for pros! Reallt need to find a running partner I think, someone who is as useless as me! LOL x
You still going once a week hun? How far can you run for?

Winegirl, It would be great if you could find a partner. It is rubbish doing it on your own. I know I never end up going. Yes, I still go once a week - twice if poss, but that is not easy with kids, work etc. We do between 5 and 7 miles on a Tues night, depending on weather, people there etc. But, remember, we stop every mile and for the first month, I spent a lot of that walking, then running, walking then running etc.
Have been having a bit of a blip/wobble with PNI this last month, and I swear that the running has kept me sane.
You go for it girl!

Thank you for all the advice Rachel x
