Hiya ladies, You'd have thought I'd have known things having already had Thea, but with her I had constant hospital backup coz she's not well! With GJ, I've been left on my own! lol Ok, so GJ is 8 weeks old today. She's wearing 3-6 months clothes and weighs approx 11/12lb! She has been feeding 6oz every 1-2 hours for the past few days, so yesterday I got some milk for hungrier babies. Well, we fed her 7oz of hungrier milk last night, and for the first time in ages, she didn't throw any up! She's always been a sicky baby! But then at 9:30, she wanted more, so she had another 7oz of hungrier baby milk. She then slept until about midnight when she had another 5oz! Then she woke at 3am, and had another 5oz, then again at 6 for another 3oz. All in all, between 8pm last night and 7am this morning, she's had about 28oz of hungrier baby milk. She's also had 5oz of her normal milk. Surely this can't be right? Do you think it might be worth trying her with s bit of baby rice or something? Thea was weaned at 12 weeks and she was 6 weeks prem, so she was an early weaner as well! Advice please? ?

Dear Sussie
Not that I know much, also being in hospitla for the first part of Ella's life, but I stater to give her baby rice at 4 months as directed by the staff at the M+B unit. She was a huge girl and needed that bit more that milk.
8 weeks does seem a bit young, so maybe check with the health visitor first.
Take care
Natalie

Hiya
Just checked on Jake's charts and at 8 weeks he was 131/2 pounds and 63 cm long so a larger than average baby as sounds GJ. I gave in at just over 8 weeks and gave Jake baby rice or mashed rusk and milk in the early evening - he loved it and had loads of it. I kept this up for a good few weeks then at 3 months resorted to starting on regular meals - we've not looked back - a much more contented baby and a less stressed mother - my HV was fuming when I told her but I didn't let her knowuntil afterwards. They have to advise the current way of thinking - they don't necessarily agree personally. Do what you think is best for your little one and for you. You're the best judge of that - as we all know there are no rules with babies!!

Thea was 6 weeks prem and weighed 5lb 8oz at birth, but looking at her chart, at 8 weeks she weighed 12lb! lol Both my girls like their food!
Might just try a bit then, she what she thinks!

Sure she'll let you know - just make sure she's still getting plenty of milk too :-)

Ok, I tried her after I called the HV. I gave her a few spoonfuls of baby breakfast stuff. You should have seen the grin on her lil face, she looked like a child at Xmas!
Then she had 5oz of milk and now has gone to sleep, I'll see how she goes.

Hi Susanne
B2 weighed in at 15 1/2 lbs at 8 weeks, 62 cms tall. Had the same problem as you with milk - and so, like YoYo, started on food pretty soon after. Baby rice and things they suggested to start with - but onto real meals around 3 months.
At that point I put the baby book down!!

Thanks Hopeful, She's sleeping a lot better as well as been more settled when she's awake!
I'll just see how she goes, and give her a bit of solids when I think she needs it and see how she goes. I always went with my instinct with Thea and she's ok.

Hiya Susanne,
I personally think you should go on instinct, like you said, Thea's ok and you do know your baby best. I did what i thought was best with my 2 older kids and they are fine, my HV wasn't happy at me starting solids 'early' either but i thought its not her that has to live with them!!! And my 2 kids are healthy and very happy, i'm sure i'll do the same with Nathan too.
Just wanted to let you know your not the only one with this problem, it seems to be quite common.
Talk soon, take care.
Sarah.xx
