My Goodness Ladies I didnt look at this thread for a while after I first mentioned it but you all have been cracking with Ideas!! I think april/May time would be fab for the weather! We are going to be talking to Debbie Lindley shortly - for hose of you who dont know her she is a weather girl/radio presenter in yorkshire who also wants to raise awareness so could really big up our profile, also Karan and I are going on radio again on 24th October so there is another advertising opportunity!! This has got big potential girls - walk a mile for PNI, I could arrange it for Hull, going across ther Humber bridge and I can arrange media contacts for across the country!! I have various contacts so it shouldnt be that hard and I am willing to do it! Local papers would be good too, we have a media contact place too which are already behind the work we do, I would just need a def date for next year and named lead contacts for the country. I think its fab having all survivors and other mums who feel able (absolutely no pressure) to do a mile with buggy/pram whatever! Let me know ladies and we can get things in action!!

I really think the walk a mile would be an ideal base for the weekend. We could get as many events as we can going around the country and hopefully get lots of publicity. A walk across the bridge would definitely be an eye opener and grab peoples attention. I am willing to put work into this alongside whoever else Liz x

A mile for PNI sounds good to me. I had been thinking about it over the weekend, which route to take etc. Because I was thinking if we do Cassiobury park here in Watford with children it would be a good idea to find a meeting place where you can park, stick to paths coz of buggys try and stay away from the canal and river if poss. coz of small walkers and to finish at the playground. I think 1 mile would be far easier to sort out and much less daunting for little ones. We should definatly try and make this as big as possible and get loads of publicity, see if we could 'name our day' on an official basis.

Hi girls,
Been away for a week and I think this is a fantastic idea. I'm in Scotland and I'm quite sure that there would be plenty support up here too. A mile for pni sounds great, catch and not too far either.

From what I can find there isnt an official process. Charities etc just set a date and it becomes their official date. So we could have an awareness weekend on May Day Bank Holiday each year. Will look into it a bit more. Liz x

I can't seem to find anything to indicate how to do this officially either. From what I can work out it's just a case of naming it and making sure it is so well known that it sort of becomes automatic. Also with other awareness days etc they always have loads of celebrity backing. Could we use the other thread on Celebs who had PNI to try and get a few of these involved? It would do alot for us to get some big names in on it. Fern Britton, Melinda messenger, Jordan etc. are all very well known with in the general public.

Thanks Giz Great about your dad and the council slot too As for the celeb idea - that is something that has been difficult to do from the sounds of things - fern britton is already a patron of another pni charity and it can be hard to get through the PAs etc to get to them - but it would be worth a shot when smaller details have been finalised === Will have word with all on the management committee to see where we go from here. Will let you all know what's what and if that weekend is suitable etc etc Thanks for all your enthusiasm, research & input so far - sure we'll be asking for me input shortly too

AH Ha!! Had an idea ladies!! In our local paper one mum does a column and she has recently wrote to Jordan, so I think I can get in touch with her and see how she got her details and get some famous backing like that! wot do you think? I am meeting Debbie Lindley in November and she will have contacts too. J
