Since I've just had a rant about this in someone else's thread, I thought I'd start a new one. I find this hugely embarrasing and actually cried in the dentist twice so you are all incredibly honoured to be told this story
I took C and R to the dentist a few weeks ago. R had perfect teeth with her last 4 back ones partially visible and looking good too. C has discolouration on her 2 top back molars, the bottom back left is rotting on one side and the bottom back right is becoming discoloured too. These are the teeth that only came through about 18 months ago.
I've brushed her teeth twice daily since they first came through. I have occasionally only done them once if I've forgotten in the rush to get them to bed in the evening!
The dentist then tells me that the standard strength kids toothpaste can be too weak for some and with there being no fluoride added to welsh water, this was not rare!!!!!!!!! This was her 4th visit to the dentitst as I started taking them both at 18 months old - why wait until now to tell me.
Her last dentist visit had been 7 months before and they didn't say anything so it must have just been in those 7 months which means that I am clearly the least observant person I know. How could I not notice?
They are now both on fluoride supplements and I feel the hugest amount of guilt ever. I've had to take C back for a filling but she was so scared of the noise in the dentist that she sobbed - cue mummy crying with her and the dentist suggesting that they'd try again in August and could someone else bring her
The only saving grace is that these are her milk teeth so at least she'll grow a whole new set eventually
