I watched this on the tele this morning. It made me cry, I want to say thank you to Natalie for being so brave and talking about this publicly. I found my way here to this forum because of that interview. I already feel much better just reading about other people's experiences and ideas to help.

Hi Leddy
Thank you for your kind words. Yes Nat is amazing telling her story and were so glad weve helped you. You're really not alone although PNI can make you feel unbearably isolated.
I'm assuming you're struggling with PNI. Would you like to tell your story?
Monica

Hi. I'm a new member. I found you because of the article on the BBC.
I'm receiving treatment and support for PNI, which I've had for 2 years. Finally I admitted to people that I have the most horrific intrusive thoughts. Natalie's thoughts are the same as mine. I've been too terrified someone would think I would hurt my little girl and take her away that I didn't tell anyone the full nature of my intrusive thoughts. I adore my little girl and would never ever hurt her.
I can't tell you how good it felt to see this on the BBC website. Thank you Natalie you've made me feel a little bit braver and a little bit more normal x

Hello and welcome
We're all so proud of Nat telling her story out aloud and equally pleased it has helped you understand that this is a very distressing symptom of PNI and no reflection of you as a mum and s person. Someone described these intrusive symptoms as the mothering instinct going into overdrive where you even start to see the worst form of harm coming to your baby from yourself. This made sense to me.
Please keep talking - you will recover and understand why you are having these thoughts is half the battle x

Hi Just want to say thank you for your lovely comments. I'm so glad it's given you the strength to reach out, that's the reason I've spoken out about it - because people need to know it's a common symptom and that you can get help. I was also on BBC Breakfast yesterday with a great Dr who knows all about this symptom too: When I finally told my Doctor, he assured me I wasn't a monster and was great. If we talk about it then people get help, as it is a very real and terrifying symptom. If I hadn't found this website I know I would not have been here today, so hopefully the healthcare system will start being more open and more women won't have to suffer for so long or worse. Thinking of you all Nat xxx
