Don't panic! It's very common to need to try different anti depressants before you find one that works for you. It's frustrating though....
Could you show the dr the anti depressants which have been deemed safe for breast feeding (the ones in the links I sent you ) like sertraline? Could you go back to see dr as I completely understand your concerns. How is life forvyou in general?

Don't panic! It's common for women to ha e to try a couple of antidepressants before they find one that works.
I completely understand your worries though. Could you ask your dr to prescribe sertraline or one of the others that have been deemed safe with breast feeding? Can you get this medication where you live? X

Hi
Great to hear that things are better. Unfortunately I can't tell you how long it will take to recover as everyone is different the main thing is that you're improving - you will recover.
Having bad days or periods in between good times is normal part of the recovery process but can be hard to deal with. Can I ask why you don't take the meds regularly? It's recommended you do to reap the full benefits of them.
Keep talking x

Hi
I found recovery to be slow. I imagine if I hadn't taken meds it would have been slower. If you can it's worth persevering with side effects of meds - usually after a few weeks of feeling worse they subside - that was my experience.
Trying relaxation techniques, exercise , eating well and listening to your body ie resting when needed, helped hugely. Do you have family who could help you? X

Hi Christianah,
I'm really sorry that you are struggling with everything. I really do know how you are feeling and how awful it is. What is it in particular you are finding hard at the moment or is it just trying to manage on a day to day basis? X

Hi
So pleased you have your niece for help. Keeping fingers crossed you can tolerate the medication side effects - it's worth persevering for a few weeks if you can then they should start to subside. I'd the side effects are bad do go and see your dr. Sometimes the medication just doesn't agree with you but there are alternatives. I know I was prescribed temazepam (muscle relaxant) for a few days for the increased anxiety . I'm not a dr so maybe there are different meds your dr would suggest that was what I was given .
Is there a pattern to the symptoms? It's common for them to reappear before your period or if you're run down, upset. Maybe keep a diary - you're welcome to do that on here in the diary section.
Keep talking
Monica

Hi Christianah,
I know the thought of taking the antidepressants is really scary - it took me months to finally pluck up the courage to take them. I started on citalopram and it worked initially but soon stopped working as well. They then switched me onto sertraline which really helped but it did take a while to kick in and to get the correct dose. It could be worth trying increasing the dose and if that doesn't work switch to another. I know it's really hard and they make you feel so unwell but it is worth sticking with it as the symptoms fade. You may find that by stopping and starting them you are making the side effects of the tablets last longer. I know it's really hard but you are doing an amazing job and clearly are a real fighter! You will come out the other side xx

Hi there
I've just read somewhere that escitalopram can cause sleep issues. When do you take the tablet? It says says that maybe take the tablet in the morning. Some side effects can lessen over time.
Maybe the appetite and weight gain can be a side effect of the meds. Perhaps talk to your dr or try to smack on healthy foods.
Stay positive lovely lady! X
