well today wasnt the greatest! its such a vicious circle because even if my head starts to feel a little clearer i still feel physically sick and then feeling sick makes me anxious about something being terribly wrong which then makes me depressed AAAAHHHH! i have just been researching anxiety and PND and its incredible the physical symptoms you get from it, which i have. This site is a huge help thanks everyone! Does anybody have any good solutions or tips for getting a good nights sleep? i feel as though sleep is now my number one battle because i can not sleep and am constantly tired and cant concentrate.

I think a lot of us find it hard to sleep and there aren't really any answers as it i s different for everyone i find that if i watch what i want to watch on the TV downstairs till I'm tired and then go up to bed and read a book for fifteen minutes it helps me relax and i go to sleep better. Something else to try could be a warm milky drink it doesn't work for me but for some it does again something else that doesn't work for me but does others is to leave the TV on in the bedroom but have the volume turned down so that you can barley hear it. Have you tried having a relaxing bath and things like that i know these all sound like silly things but sometimes they help. The only other thing would be to try a herbal tablet like nytol as I'm told they work but you would have to check with your chemist that they weren't going to cause any problems with you medication that you are already taking. Hope some of that helps and fingers crossed you start to sleep a bit better.

Dear Looney
All of the above I have found useful in the past - especially reading and milky drink. Although, like you, I still suffer from insomnia and had it even before baby for other reasons. I have found fresh air and exercise help (but only because I feel better and am recovering - didn't go out at all for ages at beginning of PNI). Also (sounds silly) but I am trying visualisation where I force myself to think of something nice when dark and negative thoughts enter my head at night in bed. But I have not got this right yet and was relieved to read that this is your battle too - it's certainly mine.
Take carex
