Hi everyone Need some help! Chloe keeps waking up sceaming hungry at 3am - has done this since last wed when she started getting better from her tummy bug and now it seems to be a routine for her that she expects a bottle at 3 in the morning! How do I break this cycle? She's eating lots during the day and drank 10oz of hungry baby milk before bed last night! Also, she stirs about every hour for the first part of the night and needs Mark to go through and settle her (I sleep through that because of my tabs!!!!!) so poor Mark is shattered! She was sleeping in a sleeping bag but we took her out of that as she seemed to be uncomfy and now she rolls around everywhere and sometimes ends upout side the blankets. Just dont want her getting into the routine of night feeds again! Help! Love Marion,

Hi Marion,
I had this problem with nathan after he'd been ill with a bug. I was at my wits end then i found 'the baby whisperer' website and message boards. Someone on there suggested that you cut down the milk gradually. You do it over 12 nights and on nights 1-3 you have your usual amount of water with one less scoop of baby milk in it, then nights 4,5 & 6 you have 2 less scoops of milk and so on til the baby stops waking up. I was really sceptical about this but i never even reached night 5!! I also spoke to my hv about it as its says on the tins your not meant to put in less scoops as it could harm the baby but she assured me that this wasn't the case, its just that they don't get the same nutrition from it (which is what you want at 3am to stop them wakingup hungry all the time) so maybe you could give this a try. I also wrote the amount of scoops to water on my calander so i didn't forget where i was!!
Don't know if this will help you but it worked for me.

Thanks Sarah - have already made her feed for tonight but will certainly start trying that from tomorrow - she drank 5oz last nights and was still awake wanting more - wondering id it's a growth spirt or something. Fingers crossed for tonight tho!!! Just eaten most of her tea although she doesnt seem to be eating as much in the day as she was before the bug- think her stomach has shrunk so I guess I will have to stretch it again!!!!!! Marion.

Hi Marion
I too had the same problem with my little one and found the Baby Whisperer book a godsend! If she wanted a drink in the night, I used to give her water instead and it seemed to do the trick.
