We ad been trying so long for baby, hormones, IVF the works. Just as we were about to give up and look at adoption, it happened. I went to park the car before work, (somewhere I had parked for over 10 yrs) and crashed it. Reversed and crashed it again, which was very strange. Long story short, did 10 tests, to confirm that we were actually having our own baby!!!!
Because of fertility teatment, we have scans from the very next day - he wasn't even a peanut!!
Developed a massive fibroid about 5 mnths into preg, which was very sore and had to stop work, but other than that preg ok.
Enjoyed my last night out, at work xmas party, and sat with my feet up, preparing for the big day.
However, it came and went.
Travelld to hospital every 2nd day for membrane sweep - now theres something you want to avoid, but still nothing.
Was eventually taken in to be induced 2 weeks post due date.
Had first dose prostaglandin that Fri night, and second dose about midnight, then went to sleep.
Woke up at some time in the early hours in absolute agony, and dragged myself round to the bath, which didn't help at all. Went to the loo, and the mucus plug went, and scared the life out of me, so I thought I'd let them know. They examined me and I was 2cm dilated, gave me gas and air, took me down to labour suite and called hubby.
Examined again about 7am and was only 4cm dilated, persuaded by hubby's colleague to have epidural. After which the midwife said, thank god, induced labour is so much worse and gas and air doesn't usually cover it.
So, I'm hooked up to monitors, hubby is reading the DaVinci Code, and nothing is happening down below. They sped up the serotonin drip, which made contractions stronger, but I couldn't pee, and this is how we stayed until 10pm. Consultant then came in, examined me, I was still only 6cm, and said "you know its quite a big baby". Well no I didn't and I've now had enough, sod embarassing my hubby infront of colleagues, get it out. Which he agreed with, so even though I desperately wanted a normal birth, I had emergency sect and L was born at 01.30 the Sun morning. Thank god too, because he ws wedged in my pelvis and was never coming out on his own!
Went up to ward about 7am, and went for my shower, catheter and all - must've been stoned!!!
Seen by consultant Sun night, and came home Mon morning!!!!!!!!
It was a really bad winter, and we lived on a hill, so I was stuck in the house for a lot of the time. L was an absolute gannet, and wanted Bf all day every day, which was really tiring. And because he was so late, hubby had to back to work almost straight away.
Hubby also was seriously unwell about 2 months later, but by that time I was already ill, I didn't notice just how sick my hubs was.
Well thats the 1st birth, thanks for reading, and will post the 2nd birth sometime
