This may sound a bit mad folks but I have had it in mind for a while now (somebody has probably mentioned it before) but what about a "walk for PNI"... you know about the RACE FOR LIFE for breast cancer and many areas get women together and they get sponsered well why not all areas across the UK do it for PNI??? It will have to be a walk though cos cant run to save my life!! ;D ;D Scotland are big on support for PNI well why not england!
Or lets lobby outside the houses of Parliament so the Government does something about recognising PNI and chucking more of the health budget at the illness???....(sorry getting carried away on my soap box now!!)
Seriously ladies this could be possible! Let me know what you all think?? It could be a set day and we could generate loads of media interest!! Think of the funds!!!!!£££££££££ Love Jo p.s not lost it honest!! xxxx

I don't care how dizzy I felt on that day, I would certainly be there! I will back you all the way with this if you need any help Joanne? PM me if you decide to go ahead and there is anything I can do (as well as the walk, obviously!).
Brilliant idea x

I know I am still a newbie here but would love to get involved in something like this. I was arranging a walk for a charity a while back and its not that difficult really. Would it be a small scale thing or are people thinking maybe walks all over the country on the same day to raise awareness. Would be a lot of work but I think the more awareness that can be raised the better. Let me know if there is anything I can do, am on the south coast so a nice walk along the seafront could be possible. Liz x

Ok - sounds like there are a few up for this We have fund-raising forms available for this kind of thing and I'm sure we can come up with a letter or article to send to local press for some coverage if possible. Who would be interested? Do you think you could rally a few others locally to join you? We could do it altogether in that it is on the same day What do you think? Any suggestions? Ideas? Southerngirl how did you go about yours??

Yes, me me me. I am well up for it. Are we thinking across the country or all congregating in one place? It would be nice if everyone could get together to do it. But I know we are dotted all over the place. Any help needed with setting this up please let me know. x

I think practically meeting up isn't really fee sable but smaller groups might be able to depending who's available and local to each other.
I would be willing to organise one in Lincolnshire. Anyone for any other county?

Well I am up for Hampshire Local council is your first stop for anything like this so they can OK a route. Well first thing we need to do is have a date and maybe a set distance. Even a mile would be OK as you could encourage mums to take little ones along. A short route is easy to organise too as you could use a local park or similar and do a few laps. I think that a lot of people would be interested if you get things going on a local level. Liz x

Is there already a PNI awareness day/week. Just thinking that if there is then we could coincide it with that. If there isnt then why dont we have a day/week. I know this is big but you lot have done more for me in a few short days than most people have done in my whole life. You have listened and I want people to know that there are support systems out there. Going off on one now, will shut up and go back to thinking lol. Liz x

I'm really up for this one to, but have to admit the whole idea of organising it kinda puts me off to be fair, not sure I'm ready for that sort of thing. I'm stressing over my sons birthday party already.
Anyway, I could get coverage by our local paper dead easy and we have an excellent park (Cassiobury park) in Watford that has been used for similar sorts of things so I can't see that being a problem. So count me in under Hertfordshire (watford).

southerngirl - mind run an awareness day oct 10th for mental health in general. Giz - if you could get some coverage that would be great - no pressure on anyone in the various areas wanting to take part to do any of this - if you fancy just raising some sponsorship and walking on your own or with your family / little ones that would be just fab too Or you could simply say - I'm going to walk 4 miles in such and such a park meet in carpark for 10 am - anyone fancying joining me - or something?? There is no pressure to do this - we understand that all of us on here are are varying degrees of wellness. x x
