Hi
I too try and brush my teeth at the same time, I also just keep trying to brush them and sometimes she lets us although she still moans but I dont like the idea of not having them brushed. I spoke to the dentist and they said to just keep going with it and she will soon learn - I like the idea of battery operated one!! Might have to get that.

I used to have 2 toothbrushes each for mine when they were small. One that I just left for them to play with and chew on whilst they were in the bath and one for proper use (that lasted longer). I found because they were chewing on them it sort of cleaned their teeth abit and they also got used to having the brush in their mouth. Obviously they do need to be watched.
Like Hopeful said brush yours at the same time, kids like to imitate.

I know its not the best but I just let LO brush her own teeth and now she loves it! She probably isnt doing the best job but at least she wants to brush her teeth...

Hi anita
I had this same problem with my LO and got really worried about not doing it cos it was too much hassle to fight her to do it.
However I have found that perseverance helps and she is slowly getting the hang of it. She does spend more time trying to chew the brush when I do it but I just want her to get used to the idea of it really.
Might try the letting her chew on it too so she isn't bothered by it and can practice on her own then!

The fruity flavour one - it's got winnie the pooh etc on the tube. My youngest hates the minty ones and won't open her mouth if it's on her brush. When she's a little older, letting her pick the brush and toothpaste herself should help.
They both have fluoride supplements now too as the eldest (this is my most shameful parenting secret so you are very honoured!) has two back teeth which despite being brushed twice daily with kids toothpaste since she had teeth are rotting!!!! The standard strength of kids toothpaste was far too low for her as Fluoride is not added to the water in Wales - something I did not know!!
Oh God, get off your soapbox Sian

We use the minty kids one but would try the fruity one too if they don't like the mint. My mum tells me not to stress too much about cleaning them EVERY night cos we don't give her too much food with sugar in it anyways. We are quite lucky cos apparently Bedfordshire has got flouride in the water anyways Difficult one though - fav toy sounds good idea or perhaps while watching fav programme (so they are distracted)? xx

Not an expert on this at all - but you can get 6+ toothpaste with added flouride. Let them choose it in the supermarket and give them ownership
