I've decided to volunteer to give a talk on PNI at my local Health Centre "First Baby Group" in Royston. It would be good if I could time it to coincide with this year's PNI Awareness Weekend/Week. Has a date been decided yet?
As a current, (but definitely now recovering in small steps) sufferer with both my sons I'm surprised at how little some new mums know and understand about PNI. I'd love to pass on some current, accurate information about symptoms, what help you can get, and how you can help other mums with PNI, as well as talk about my own experiences.
Nearer the time, would anyone be prepared to scrutinise a draft talk to see if I've missed anything, or described anything incorrectly? Or even provide some quotes or advice? I'd love some input, however small!
Thanks guys, and keep up the fantastic support!
Julia

Am on it We usually do last bank holiday in May but wondering if we tried to do a week then make it another time of year. Any suggestions as to when but I was thinking July time. Will look at some dates to check its not clashing with anything big and if anyone else wants to input please go ahead Liz x

Hi liz
July is ok but if you need something to have impact do it before the schools break as you will get much lower impact if people are on holiday etc.

Thats what I was thinking, when we do the bank holidays there are lots of other things on so being small to start with we would get lost but if we chose our own time we could make it our own. How about we say the first full week of July so 4th is the first Monday I believe. Have been trying to think of something catchy as a slogan with maybe the chance to have friends get together for a coffee morning as I know a lot of the bigger charities do this and it works well. Just throwing some ideas so come and bounce some back xx

I've done a talk to students and have a poster you could have about this site if you need it? x

p.s. in fact there are 2 posters: one about our research (with quotes etc) and one about the site - also some leaflets. Happy to help with it x

Thanks Hopeful! Posters and leaflets could both be really useful. What sort of students was your talk aimed at? Did it go down well?
Glad you've all started talking about dates by the way. I feel quite excited at the thought of actually doing something, too. Think it might be part of my recovery process :-)

Hi paranoidandroid,
I spoke to MA students - happy to let you have what I have as a joint effort. It went down very well - in fact was highlighted as one of the best bits of their course. I did it in the style of 'woman's hour'. It wasn't easy, but worth it. Two women came over at the end and said that they had suffered - I think there must be something in the 1 in 7 statistic.
