how long does this last?

I was diagnosed with severe pnd 13 months after my son was born in March 2001. Now further down the line I am much better and have considerably reduced anti depressants - BUT I have just had a really awful day. Is it still pnd, have I reduced meds too fast, will I feel like this for ever. Please tell me that there is an end to this. Unless you've had it nobOdy can really understand how black you can feel.

I know exactly how you feel. I have been feeling really great for the past 5-6 weeks and really thought I was on the mend, but the past two - three days I have felt quite low again and today I woke up feeling dreadful, really depressed and tearful. I have been suffering from PND for about 10 months and know that I am getting there but when you get these days you feel like it is all coming back. My little girl was a year last week and I had a wonderful day with her. I know what you mean about no one really understanding how you feel unless they have experienced it for themselves. I have spoken to quite a few people who have suffered from PND and they all say it is very normal to have a long spell of good times and then get the odd bad day.

I hope that you start to feel brighter again - you will and this horrible illness will go away eventually. Take care
