I have been taking escitalopram for nearly 18 months now, and although I feel better, whenever i lower the dosage I find I suffer withdrawal symptons. I take 20mcg a day, with every other day only 10mcg. My GP has recommended I continue this until the Spring and then reduce the dosage again. I feel as though I have been taking medication forever and I am still having hurtful feelings towards my 2 and half year old son. I have referred myself for counselling but have yet to receive any appointment. My sex life is non-existent as I feel unable to get physically close to my husband, and this is also taking a toll on our relationship. Does anyone have any advice for me?  |

Hang in there, I have been on Citalopram for over 2 years now, I also tried to lower the dose and suffered withdrawl symtoms, you have to give your body time to adjust, I am sure the GP is right. It may seem a long time, but if this medication is helping you then stick with it, it will take time for you to recover fully and be back to 'you' again, but dont be to upset about this, I have had this for a couple of years now and through sites like this I am only now beginning to have some understanding of how this illness can affect you, the thing to remember is that these hurtful feeling toward your son will go away, I still have them and my son is 3 now, but I know I would never harm him, if I thought for even a second that I would then I would tell someone.
