Hi all! Im a newbie and I have just discovered this site, only because I failed to acknowledge that there was a problem until now! My "baby" is now 2!!!! I have been living in a crazy place for the last couple of years..muzzy head, paranoia, memory problems, feelings of failure etc and a voice in my head that wouldn't shut up! I have been prescribed a tablet that in the last couple of weeks has quietened those thoughts and it's so nice to have a "holiday" from myself! I'm at peace and feel calm! Haven't cried for 3 weeks....(thats a MASSIVE achievement, it used to be 5-10 times aday!). Im going to use this site because I am still ill, and have a little insight into my illness. Im here for anyone. xx

hi there and welcome to the forum
I am pleased to hear that you are getting some help now and feeling more peaceful and calm. It can take quite a while before you realise what is wrong and what can be done about it so don't worry about that.
I spent months denying anything was wrong, that I was just stressed and that I could get over it on my own. I was very wrong however and since starting my anti depressants things have really improved thankfully.
I hope this site can be useful for you. I would say I am recovering but I still use the site a lot. You can say whatever you feel and use this forum as little or as often as you like.
Welcome once again and please feel free to post away!
love collette xxxx

Thanks collette for your post. Its weird how you plod on isn't it? I have heard it called " The Smiling Illness" (how true). Now my thoughts are clearer it is so easy to see what was going on, but at the time it isn't obvious to yourself. I have apologised to my two eldest boys (15 and 11) for the disconnection and self importance they may have sensed from me. Hopefully now things will be good.
Thanks again for your response. Much love Maxine xx

Dear Maxine,
It took me nearly 11 months (with my second) to know something was wrong - although I did know something changed after about 6-8 weeks (if not before). I hadn't known it was called 'the smiling illness before' ...! So true - especially at the beginning when you have no idea what's wrong.
Take care of yourselfx
