You will not have seem much of me over the last few days because I have been going square eyed pouring over the PNI.ORG accounts to get them into some sort of order!! I finally received the NHS grant a couple of weeks ago and realized that before I could even think of claiming anything for what we have spent so far this year on running costs or consider spending some of it on the extra things we applied to spend it on - like a data base driven information pages and a new photo album system, and some new books and maybe a video. I am also to start a local support group soon and I need to have access to the money I raised for this. Anyway it was a night mare as I hate accounting so it is always the last thing to be done. But now we have some grant funding and I am going to try to get some more I want PNI.ORGs finances to be transparent and easy for anyone to see. As I consider all the members of the forum a member of PNI.ORG and as such you have a right to see the accounts. So I have put the accounts on the main web site - they can be found on the main page: www.pni.org.ukAnd you see I have also started on a newer fresher look for the site. Only the first page is done as yet but I hope to update all the pages soon - What do you think , I did not want to alter the design too much but make it look 'more up to date' As this is your site please can I have suggestion as to what content you would like to see on the main web site. As I am updating it - this is an opportunity to add content that members want or feel would be useful. Let me know Anyway I have to go to bed now I am bushed All the best Veritee

Hiya Verittee,
The page looks good and fresh!
I did try and get into the accounts but it is zipped (due to space probably) and when I tried to open it some software tried to download (winzip)? So I had to stop it because it was asking for money for buying the software. If that makes sense. Some people might already have it installed and be able to open it without problems but I just wanted to point that out. I will ask hubby to see if I can open it another way.
Thanks.
As I am an accoutning technician(retired) and hubby an accountant we would be interested.
Bye for now
Anne-Marie

Hi Veritee
It looks really good - I think green is a good colour. For example, I think just plain white can look a bit clinical and anything too dark , a bit gloomy, so the green is good and the update works well. I've always thought the silhouette of the family is sort of reassuring and positive.
Did you know that some of the spellings of words have changed? I'm sure you've spotted that one.
As AM says it does look fresh and inviting.
Thanks for all you do for us, Hopefulx

Hi A_M I will send them via email - they are written in excel - I guess you have an older system than ME or XP as these come already with software to unzip files. If you have got XP, ME or even Win 98 service pack 2 - this should not have happened as it will know you have it and not ask to install anything - and that it does means that your operating system, the part with the built in software for compressed or zipped files has become corrupted - in this case you could try going to the windows update site and make sure you have all the updates available for your Operating system installed For you and anyone else in this position try the windows update site or Microsoft com to ask for compressed or zipped file software and there are some free unzipping software that wont damage your PC you can use also and work with older systems if you get the right one - try here www.download.com/3120-20_4-0-2-0.html?qt=Unzip&ca=20This one is great and is free: www.download.com/7-Zip/3640-2250_4-10411641.html?tag=tab_urThis one is free but has some bugs: www.download.com/ZipGenius/3000-2250_4-10418581.html?tag=lst-0-8Or I have an older copy of Win-zip which is free - it used always to be free - it asks you to pay every time you start it up but you do not have to and it will run forever - I can send this via email if you like? I had to zip it partly for size and because the Internet does not allow you to download excel files without it becoming corrupted unless zipped . I do not know why this should be but I will put it on the site unzipped and ask that users try right clicking and save target as - Hi Hopeful I guess my atrocious spelling has struck again - I am dyslexic and don't even know of notice when things are not spelt right - I spell checked it but the web design software I use does not have a good spell checker as it misses things and it was late at night when I finally finished and I was just trying to test the page out. Please send me the words I have spelt wrong and do not hesitate to let me know of any other mistakes I may have made. Also if you have any suggestions for content i.e someone suggested our own version of a PNI leaflet to download, and the PNI.ORG leaflet about the site that you can print and distribute around GP surgeries , nurseries, play schools HV etc Also I am trying to compile a list of PNI facilities such as groups, MBUs etc so if you have full details of these please let me know? Also if you have any other ideas for content - please let me know too! all the best for now Veritee

Hi Veritee
Silly me - should have realised it was just a test page!!
Hope I've not offended you.
This idea is really good:
''PNI leaflet to download, and the PNI.ORG leaflet about the site that you can print and distribute around GP surgeries , nurseries, play schools HV etc''
I'm just imagining how great it would have been to have picked up one of these during one of my earlier visits to the GP....

Hi Me Again The accounts are now available on the site in excel format. You will need the program MS Excel to view it or another office spreadsheet program capable of viewing MS office formats. I am told the open source ( and much cheaper) Star Office www.sun.com/software/star/staroffice/features.jsp will do it but there are others Try CNET for office downloads if you have broadband. Also the PNI.ORG leaflet is available now in a couple of formats ie MS Publisher and jpeg - I intend to offer more formats like pdf but do not have time right now. To download any files in Zip format just click on the link and if you have not got downloads blocked - a download will start. To access any of the other formats, right click on the link and select - save target as- save it on your hard disk. I have also corrected the spelling - I think - on the new start page. Let me know if there are any other mistakes and if everything works? If this test page is OK I will get to work changing the whole site to this design as some of it really is in need of a revamp - its looking very tired as I much of it years ago. Anyway if you have time everyone test the page to see if it works and to see if I have missed anything? It is at : www.pni.org.ukThank you Veritee I f you want to see

Hiya got it,
In excell format. Although Geoff says we have winzip too. No idea what was happening to me. I have glanced it. But will look again. It interesting reading. Hopefully donations will start again and maybe there is funding out there! However, as this is national and possibly international - being an internet site - must be hard to find funding as its usually regional.
This is such a new area, you are probably hitting ground never thought of in the recent past and things need to catch up.
But it is valuable and i hope that can be rewarded.
Well done.

Hi A-M
yes you have hit the nail on the head when it comes to funding issues.
I used to be employed at one time as a youth and community fundraiser so I actually have skills at it ..
But the brick wall I come up against always with this one is that the forum and web site is national or even international so it does not qualify for the majority of funding which is Regional and community based.
Also I have only just started to try for finding as I always wanted to keep the personal nature of the service - and to be honest = the control,
So until last year I never even tried to get funding - but now I realize that if it is to continue I have to .
I can not always guarantee that we can continue to fund it totally.
But I am now on the case and am determined to get a regular annual sum for the forum and web site.
Once it is all set up £1000 should do it.
This is not much to ask for - I have dreams of it being more than this ie like Samaritans, childline etc - with people round the clock employed or volunteers, to be on line or on the phone!!
But perhaps this is OTT and not needed - I do not know??
Anyway - thanks for looking at the new web page
Any suggestions or help welcome
ATB
