Hi All
I am a bit worried as I have been to my GP today who took my BP and send it was at the top end of normal. He said it was probably because I am anxious. I am now obsessing about this (part of my pni) that I am about to drop dead with a stroke or something, as anyone else been told that their anxiety has been causing this.
Would be grateful for any reassurance.

Hi JDM I know just what you mean I must admit, I often thought I was dying (still do sometimes) and am particularly focused on dying of a stroke too - every time I get weird aches and pains in the head - I used to think - this is it, I'm dying. Same with chest pains - at one point I honestly thought I was going to have a heart attack. Like you, I was told it must be anxiety/ hormones but nothing like I'd imagined - I even had ECGs - heart scans and other stuff in Casualty twice or maybe it was 3 times I think less like that now - it will improve for you and I hope it's soon. Love Hopefulxx

Thanks for that, he has not arranged to re check it or put me on any meds so I guess it must not have been that bad? He has put me on prozac today I have just read the leaflet and now I am too scared to take it all the side effects sound worse than the pni if that is possible, oh god I actually think I am mad now, I have got the help I wanted and am afraid to address it, what is wrong with me? If anyone has had a similar experience please tell me.
Love to all suffering

Hi I think I was checked early on as I was severely breathless and they were worried I might have a clot on the lung or a heart/ lung problem. PND had never been mentioned at this point -so they were being cautious. Don't worry, I know how convincing these thoughts and symptoms can be x Regards the meds, I was told not to read the label before taking them - as my GP says every possible side effect has to be listed.Which makes it sound like we'll end up worse than we are before being treated ! She said to give it to my partner to read through until I got going on them...? Anyway, hope this helps in some way. Hopefulx

Thanks for that, I wish my GP had given the advice yours did. Thanks for getting back to me it does really help to know that someone else has been through this crazy illness. Did you find the ads worked?

Hi JDM,
I was diagnosed quite late on and went for talking therapy to start with, which is working now .... But I was offered meds recently when I had a bit of a bad patch and I still have the prescription - and if I have another bad patch, I will start taking them. So, no I haven't taken andtids yet, but there are many ladies on here who have , who may be able to help you with this one.
Take Care and good luck Hopefulxxx

Hello
My brothers GP told him that as you're a bit stressed about going to the drs, that alone can raise your bp. Obsessing about illnesses is so me! Particuarly when I was really bad twith PNI. I used to blow everything out of proportion. When Ihad tonsilitis, I'd think it was something sinister etc I so understand how you feel and how stressful the worrying is.
Try thinking of the evidence. Your bp isnot that high otherwise your dr wouldhave put you on meds for that. He hasn't even discussed a follow up appt, so he can't be concerned.
Hopefully, the prozac will kick in and your anxiety wil decrease. I'm on citalopram and I noticedmy obsessiveness lessened after a while. take care

Thanks Monica, how long did they take to work, did you worry about the side effects? I have not actually taken them yet as I was so worried when I read the leaflet.

Hi
I think it was about 2-3 weeks before the meds kicked in. I did feel worse initially and was given diazepam to calm down abit as it seemed the physical symptoms I had worsened. And then after about 2-3 weeks, I started enjoying life again. Laughing at things, and didnt seems so preoccupied with things I was stressing about. I found taking meds was the tunrning point for me.
yes, I did worry about the side effects, but at the time I felt so ill it was unbelievable I was desperate. Things that did help during that difficult period were having people around. Talking to someone was a distraction. however, some people don't get many side effects. I don't have any now.
How are you doing? Let us know.
Monica
