I read today in a magazine, I dont know how accurate this is, that after her recent suicide attempt, it had emerged that she has post natal depression.
I know that i find things hard to put a normal face on, imagine how hard it must be in the public eye.
She was pictured just days after taking 30 anti depressants and cutting her wrists at a film premiere.
And later that same week took her chid to disneyland.
i just thought that she was such a contrast from the much discussed Mrs Beckham. She was doing what we all do, just in a more public manner. She still managed to take her child on holiday, and keep the commitments at a childrens film premiere.
I just really felt for her, and she seemed a bit more like one of us!!

It is a pity that more celebrity mums arent open about the noramlities of being a parent instead of hiding and trying to be all glammed up.
I think a few have confessed to having pni but off hand i cant remember which ones.

Apart from Gale Porter
Here are a few I know have addmitted to PNI. There are others who had 'depression' or some sort of 'breakdown' after giving birth but have either strongly dennied they had PNI/PND or have never commneted on it.
Perhaps others can add to this list? Queen Victoria, Lady Diana, Esther Ranzen,Trisha, Marie Osmond - wrote a book on postpartum depression, Fiona Shaw - actor, Rachael Hunter, Sadie Frost, Susannah Constantine ('What Not to Wear') ,Wendy Harmer - Aus, breakfast TV queen, Fern Britten, Denise Welsch, Melinda Messenger, Judy Finnigan,Jerry Hall, Clair Rayner - a few times after each child I think, has really made a career of it, Natasha Hamilton from pop group Atomic Kitten
I've e mailed a few but never had a repy. I was not asking for money just to put their name to the site and the issue - perhaps we can try again at some point?

I did read that article about Gail Porter & I knew about Denise Welch because I kept her articles & still have one cause she's had it for many years. I agree, its good that they can be open & honest & not be afraid to share the fact through the media that they have this illness, yet they suffer just the same as you or I. It would be a good idea Veritee to try them again ( Iknow you're very busy with the forum anyway!) Just to see what they thought of the forum & there thoughts & feelings about PNI in general? Love Jane x

Thanks Karen
Yes know you mention I did see this on the pnisha site.
That’s heartening to know – as it show it is possible to get this kind of support for PNI. Do you know how they got her support? often I find it inpossible even to get a contact address , email or number for any Celebs?
Perhaps we will have some success in the future in getting a 'name' to endorse this site also.
We do not need it really as it is not fundamental to the running of the forum, - we have existed a long while without this support, but it does help raise the public awareness of the issue of PNI if celebrities put their name to work that is being done.
Anyway perhaps as I said I will try again to contact a few again to see if we can get a 'name'?
But if anyone using the forum wants to take this on on our behalf please let me know as I do not really have any time for this kind of thing as running the forum takes up most of the free time I do have.
I seem to have less and less free time every day!
So let me know if you or anyone would like to write a few letters to Celebs to try to get a name to endorse this forum?
All the best

Actually I do not think this is such a bad idea
'PNI. ORG as endorsed by Queen Victoria'
At least she will not object
Perhaps she can be our patron?
