Hi Yoyo Thank you so much for being so considerate and remembering Yes Caja got what she needed and is really excited about her first full day at college tomorrow ( she had her college induction day yesterday and starts properly tomorrow) It is a milestone in both our lives ! Frans daughter Amy started college today and she did well too with her GCSEs Before you all know it your children will be at their first day of college - time really flies and PNI seems so long ago for me ...... Thank you so much for asking - it is a big thing in my life ATB Veritee

thanks yoyo
amy is alittle fed up as they have changed the rules now just as she has started , where as before on free periods they could go home or leave the college but now they have decided that they have to stay all day even if they have afternoons off , they are all angry , the upper sixth formers have the same rules to, anyway amy has joined the council there so she is adamant that she will change things back to how they were , i spose they had their reasons but i wouldnt of minded her coming home early , would of been fine , shame really for her ....

I know Fran
I would rather if Caja had a free period in the morning or the after noon she had a rest and went in later or came home earlier - or even went for a coffee in the town.
But its the same at her college and as if she does a whole day it means waking up at 6 am as she is slow in the mornings and needs a good hour to get ready- leaving the house at 7pm for a friend of hours to take here on his way to work to where she can catch the bus to the college - and it takes so long to get to here college being over an hour aways - more in traffic they are lucky to get their by 9pm
Then of course on the way back it takes just as long for her to get back into the village and home so she is rarely home before 6pm.
It is a very long day for her and she still gets very tired - so personally I do not like this at all.
I think to come home where she can relax is more important that her staying in college all day even when she has not got lectures.
She is also someone who will work better on here own PC in her own living room .
I think they are dong this because of public order ie it is believed that it is college students who have nothing to do in the day and get let out early that cause the most public order offenses.
Well I don't know - but my very quiet girl who has never dreamed of a public order offense is suffering because of the few who do!
Caja has also had problems with transport - we have spent over £200 on a bus pass and twice the bus has not taken her anywhere near here village - one night, this Tuesday her and another girl who lives nearby were dumped in a village miles form here ( 16 miles) and told there would be another bus along later....
It never came so they rang and the other girls parent - who is also disabled like me - went to fetch them because I did not have enough petrol as I could not get any because their are few garages here for many miles and they had all ran out!!!!!
So the good side is Caja is loving being at college and not school - but we are all so tired getting up so early ( I know if you have young children you have to also but it is years since I have been up at 6pm)
Anyway - I have had my moan , no doubt it will improve
Btu we agree with Amy about having to stay at college for free periods - it sucks

just seen this - Well done to Amy and Caja - that's great Hope they're enjoying College despite the annoying 'rules'!!
It's been bad enough just going through my daughter's first couple of weekes at school in Reception - can't imagine what it'll be like getting her through exams!!
