Hiya Ladies, Ok, a bit of a difficult one. Thea (yes I brag! lol) is extremely clever, and I'm not just saying that because she's my daughter, we've had it from health care professionals as well. Ok, so I don't just want to send her to any old school, so I'm looking into private schooling. I've found the ideal place, but we can't afford it, how do you go about getting a scholarship?

I think you have to apply for a scholarship through the school in question so you have to ask the school what their system is.
My nearest neighbors two girls go on a scholarship to that school featured in a recent reality TV programmer called Rock School - their scholarship is awarded by their school.
The reality TV programmer is really funny I only watched it twice , and once with them when they were home for the last half term - but it featured a heavy rock musician who went to this very posh public/private school where the kids wear long gowns like Eaton and are supposed to know only about classical music and do not know Rock music exists.
This Rock guitarist is supposed to teach some of the children at this school about Rock music and the programme is about the difficulties these 'posh ' kids have in understanding it .
However my neighbors kids, who are not at all posh and love Rock music say it is a 'put up job'
They certainly know about Rock music and so they say do all other kids in the school and it featured the weirdest amongst them on the programme.
Anyway I digress
I suppose I could ask my neighbor about how she went about getting a scholarship for her children for this school.
This is a secondary school and they board and the school is many miles away so she rairly sees her kids so I would d not recommend this before secondary school age
- so I guess you are looking at a private primary school nearby.
You have There could be others near to you - or maybe you will have to wait until your child is of prep school age - about 9 I believe to go to the 'prep' part of a local private or public school.
But what i do know is that most scholarships are specific to the school in question and cover certain areas.
The school my neighbors girls go to give scholarships to theses gifted in music as the school specializes teaching classical music.
So I guess the thing to do it find a school near enough or if you want your child to board not too far for them to come home of a weekend - ans ask them what scholarships they have
All the best

The school in question is a short bus journey away from our house, and don't do boarding. It's a prep school for age 4+ I'll contact them, thanks V
