Kid’s food … !! I do struggle with this too, whilst we’re on the subject of food.. Any good ideas that might appeal? They love roast dinner - veg, meat and gravy..and the usual of fish, mash, goujons, pizza etc. Pasta dishes go down well and of course sandwiches..and BAKED BEANS! They like puds of course, so that is not the problem, lol! I have never made a curry from scratch for my 2 that they actually like – has anyone else? Just wanted to try something new! I did once make pizza out of muffins (with ketchup, cheese and ham on top) – that went down ok. Any ideas gratefully appreciated!!

hey hopeful there's one thing my son loves to the end of the earth and i actually stole the idea from the bernard mathews advert. All you do is bake a potato however you normally cook it have your oven preheated cut the potato in half sprinkle some grated cheese then some cooked ham like bernard mathews ham (must be in strips) put this on top of the cheese then some more cheese then a bit more ham stick it in the oven adn let the cheese melt .My son loves this for his lunch as it isn't quite filling enough for a dinner .If i think of anymore i'll post and let ya know kirsti xxx

Hiya H,
I have a similar problem. Thea won't eat anything in a sauce, not beans, no gravy, no pasta, nothing with or anything to do with a sauce, and she does get stuck eating the same foods. She loves fruit and veg, but I need something quite quick coz by tea time I'm tired! lol Oh and no melted cheese, she thinks it's sauce and doesn't believe it's not! lol

Cheat's bolognaise: If you can find half hour once a week to make up a batch big enough for two adults, this equates to about 10 mini (freezable) meals for 18m+ toddlers. - Cut brocolli into florets and boil / steam. - Fry mince. - In another pan heat Seeds of Change 'garlic & chilli' sauce (£1.79 sainsbury). - When brocolli done (about 6-8mins) take out the florets and grind them up in a babyfood blender so they are reduced to a fine fluff. - Add the ground-up brocolli to the sauce and mix in well. - Drain mince into wads of kitchen roll so it is as fat-free as possible. - If the mince looks at bit too chunky for your kids, put batches through the baby blender. - Add mince to sauce and mix in well.
When it has cooled down you can freeze this into tubs. The CHEAT here is to use Cous-cous instead of spaghetti. A lot of people haven't tried it, and I'm not a fan myself, but my son loves it. You make it up with boiling water from the kettle and let it stand for about 5mins while the water is absorbed. Voila. Fresh cous-cous to go with your defrosted cheat's-bolognaise.
I've tried this with plain sauce with my son and friends' kids - but the winning preference was for the more heavily flavoured garlic variety. Go figure! But garlic is good as it has anti-viral properties. Younger toddler variation: forget the mince, but run the sauce and brocolli through the baby blender. Cous-cous is very fine and teeny already. When you see it made up, you'll see what I mean.
