Has anyone any experience of these. I did not take prescribed medication for various reasons although I urge women with PNI to use whatever works for them and anti- depressants are very effective for many women. However I relied heavily on counseling and therapy as well as various Complimentary therapies, such as rekki, hypnotherapy, homeopathy etc And I also used natural Progesterone in pessary form from a sympathetic doctor ( not many GPs support this in recent years) and later for menopause as a cream that I bought over the Internet - I am not recommending or endorsing this I am just mentioning that I have used progesterone. But I thought I would start this thread as many have mentioned alternative therapies to me and while I have posted a bit about all the ones I know of here: veritee.proboards7.com/index.cgi?board=meds&action=display&n=1&thread=4396It would be good to get individuals experiences of using different alternative and complimentary therapy for PNI All the best Veritee

Yes please let us know how it goes Joannem.
I have had reflexology and found it very relaxing and it seemed useful - but not for PNI but a stomach problem - excess acid - that did actually go away after this as i have never had it since! It is said to be very good for 'Digestive disorders' as nerves on the feet are said to connect directly to the stomach and bowels.
I am with you when you say 'Anything that helps and makes you feel good has got to be a bonus' As I believe that anything that helps you to feel better is the way to go with PNI
Love Veritee

Hi
I had 2 sessions of acupuncture. I had very physical symptoms incl a pressure round oen of my eyes (Forgotten which), headaches, double vision (whihc i now think is due to my eyesight worsening).
Anyway, the day after the first session , I felt amazing. The pressure round my eye went and for the first time in months I flet amazing.
The second sessionw asn't so good, but I think that's my fault. I ended up taking my eldest son as bf was in a foul mood. I could relax as was looking to see what he was up to. the tv was on for him and I went home only to get ready for work, where s the woman said I shoudl tryu to chill out.
Sayign that the feeling of wellbeing after the first session was worth it!

I have also had acupuncture for the physical symptoms, and agree that the feeling of wellbeing in body & mind after the first session is incredible.
I also take a homeopathic remedy, drink herbal teas etc all of which seem to work for me

2 years ago I had reflexology. I was suffering with PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome) and was told by the medical profession that I only had a 5% chance of conceiving. So I did everything I could to help myself, including reflexology. On the first session the reflexolgist told me that the part of my feet relating to my ovaries and reproductive system were quite hard indicating a problem. I had never told her about the PCOS so was amazed she knew. 6 sessions later after two years of trying to conceive I was pregnant! Possibly coincidence, but it has made me realise that perhaps I need to go back again for help with the PNI. If nothing else it is a wonderfully relaxing experience (even for someone who ordinarily can't bear to have her feet touched!)

Hi Ladies I have had a good couple of reflexology sessions with reiki tied in! It is fab - the reiki makes your feef go lovely and warm, this is the energy being absorbed by your body and it is amazing what they pick up with your feet! My therapist got one tender area and apparently this related to my throat - and some days prior to that I had a really sore throat!
I really feel good, calm and relaxed after it so if anyone gets a chance to have it go for it!! Jo xx

Hi, Dont know if this helps but while I was on maternity leave I went to college to study reflexology, Indian head massage and Reiki. During the courses I received treatments from fellow students as practice. I truly think it helped me! In particular the reflexology and reiki had marked results with my moods, sleep and general wellbeing. I am qualified in all 3 now and I really noticed a difference when all the weekly practice treatments stopped. I suddenly felt that I"needed" yoga in my life and have been attending classes for about 3 months, it is fantastic! I can thoroughly recommend it. It is reducing tension all over my body, even if I am very low before the class I feel energised, relaxed and content all at the same time! Hope this is of use x

Hi, just though I'd add and give a mention to Bach flower remedies. 3 weeks ago I decided to cold turkey off AD's I'd been taking (was on my 3rd sort) for 5 months and used flower remedies instead. The beauty of them is that you can come up with your own personalsed set of remedies for your symptoms. You can take as many or as few apply and can even get personlised remedies made that combine those that will be of use to you. It is difficult to say whether stopping the AD's has helped or using the Bach but I certainly feel better now- if nothing else because I have taken some control over what I take and when and why.
My twins were conceived by ICSI (similar to IVF) and I was fed all sort of horror stories about the side effects of the drugs and I used bach then as well and both cycles, hard as they were didn't turn me into the psycho I'd been lead to believe I would and I'm sure the remedies helped with that. It won't be for everyone- nothing is, but I thought it worth a mention- I feel I have a lot to thank Edward Bach for!!!!

Have to agree I use the resecue remedy!!
Congratulations on twins by the way, I know what you are going through although mine will be 7 in October. At the time I had mine I also met up with a lady who had ICSI believe it or not two eggs were placed back in the hope that one took, and in the end she had triplets!!!!! It worked out that one of the eggs split naturally so she ended up with identical girls and a boy. I think one of the things that kept me sane in the early days was thinking of her struggling with three of them!!

I have been using the rescue remedy which may have taken the edge off things but thats about it. So I have now ordered the individual bach flower remedies for my specific issues. Hopefully they will arrive in the post tomorrow so I will give it a week and then post back with my thoughts.

I hope you find them useful. Flower remedies are very much about the here and now of what you are feeling so they advise that you re look through the flowers and assess which are right for you every 3 to 4 weeks. It's quite hard to get your head round at 1st as conventional medicine is so much about working through the first few weeks. I have found that there are two that I always take and others I use vary from week to week. I also found that I needed to make a distinction between my own charater traits, and my symptoms. i.e. there were flowers that sounded like they applied to me as a person, but they weren't that useful, the ones that helped were those that applied to the way in which I felt different, and the things I couldn't cope with. Let me know how you get on, I'd be really interested to hear as am in the provess of trying to build up knowledge beyond my own experience

When my psychiatrist was weaning me off the anxiety med, he gave me a prescription for herbal anxiety and relaxation drops and to be honest I do take them now and again if I feel a bit anxious or I can't get to sleep, and they appear to work. You can actually get them off prescription at the local pharmacy over here, but if you can't get them in the UK perhaps they have something similar with the same ingrediants.
They are called Sedinal Company Melisana 100ml drops (although you can get tablets as well) dose 20 drops 2/3 times a day
Ingrediants: crataegi oxycanti ballota foetide passiflora Incarnet
You can also get sedinal plus which
