Behappy, yes, let me know what doc says. My gp - who has been my family doctor since I was about 8, swears by dosulepin and says that although they are less popular than the new 'prozac based' ADs, they are fantastic for depression with anxiety and anyone with problems sleeping. I take mine at bedtime and am out for the count - which is great.
If I do need to get up with my kids, they take the edge off things and help my drift back to sleep when all is done.
I am so much better in just that few months I have been on them.
Speak soon.

Since i started taken these tablets i have put on alot of weight really quikly, I'm still eating the same foods as before. Having quite a healthy diet, but it's started to get to me now. Has this happened to anyone taking these MEDS before.

Hi Behappy
I have never taken this drug, but from what I know of it one of the side effects can be weight gain through it. I guess the only answer is more excercise while you are on them (says me who thinks walking to the car is excercise!)
I hope someone who has taken this can post to put your mind at ease a bit. How are you finding the meds in general??

In general i have seen an improvement which I'm pleased with, but obviously I'm still finding some day's really bad to coupe with, but i know it's a slow process.
I'm sleeping really well now with taking these tablets, which helps alot as you can imagen.

Hi Behappy
Thats great. I guess in the grand scheme of things a bit of weight gain is bearable with the benefits outweighing it? Keep with it mate, it will all be worth it in the end.
Always here for you x

Behappy, Have been on Dosulepin (my hero) since November - and a higher dose (75mg) since Xmas. I haven't seen any weight gain at all with these, just the usual weight gain after a baby!
I have been doing anytjing I can to make this depression go away so in Feb I took up running - haven't been since school (20 years ago) so it was a shocker. But it has been fantastic for me. Great for depression and great excuse to get out of the house!
Anyway, I could defo say, that even without the running, the dosulepin hasn't affected my weight at all.
I am so glad it has helped with your sleep though. It is brilliant isn't it. I take my pill at bedtime and just drift into sleep. Fab!!!

Mimismum, Sorry for the delay. I haven't been on here for a while.
OK, I started off on 75mg. It is quite hard at first as it makes you very tired (which I found great as it put me to sleep), but the only problem is that you feel a bit hung over in the morning. You also tend to get a dry mouth in the morning too.
Just stick with it and try really hard to get help in that period as you might find it a struggle to get moving first thing. This only lasts about 2-3 weeks - maybe 4 at a push and then you will be fine. It also takes about this period to start seeing any anti-depressant benefits. I have been on that dose since Nov 07 and in the summer this year I had a bit of a blip and they put my dose up to 100mg. Again, I had an awful 2-3week period of feeling tired and drained, but this just went after that period and I am absolutely fine.
I think it is great as it really helps me to sleep. I also think it makes me a little 'emotionally numb' which at these times in your life, you need to be!! Or I do anyway.
Take care and I will keep checking this thread to see how you are.
