I'be come accross a problem. My little man is 5 1/2 months now and is currently in a small cot. He is in our room at present but we are in the process of moving and the new house will have a big enough room for him to be in same room as his brother(2).
He is breast fed, still wakes thro the night, from 2-5 times. hes been ill with an op at 5 weeks and is just begining to be on par with norm for weight gain. He feels the cold easily (we live in a cold unheated house just now - new one has gas so wont be an issue) and think he may wake coz of that. I have given in to keeping him in our bed when he has wonen the first time as its the hassle and lack of sleep for us both. he usually wakes when I put him in the bed.
So hes the prob. I was planning putting him in with bro, but he has night terrors and may make baby and vise versa with babies screaming. So I though I may out him in the big cot in our room. A friend suggested taking the side off and next to our bed, as she did it with hers when breast feeding. In that respect simple for shifting back and forth from me to the cot without waking him. But is that just going to make him want me all the more. hes already a real mummys boy and crys when other pple have him if I am there. Is this normal?
I dont know whats best as his big bro was on special formula at 3 m and in his own room at 4 m so I never fed this long and see a big diff in their characters and def sleep routines.
Any advice?

Sarah,
I think the idea of a cot where the side lowers down is an excellent idea, and this is what I would do. That way he gets to sleep in his own cot, but is close by in case he wakes up in the night.
I mentioned it already in your diary hun, my bubs sleeps next to me in his cot because he wakes up a few times in the night and is always kicking his blanket off during the night, so I constantly wake up and put it back on again. It would be difficult if he was in a seperate room. My eldest always slept with me anyway until he was older and I preferred it this way. It was no problem later when he went into as bedroom on his own. He didn't make a fuss at all. I think babies of this young age like the closeness, and feel safer when mum is close by. I slept in the same room as my mum and dad until I was 5. ;D
