Hey girls, I'm near the stage of throwing in the towel. I need support and back up to keep me going lol. He woke about 5 times last night! I put him up for his nap today and left him to scream there too. It only lasted 10 mins or so. So you never know maybe hes getting the hint! Tell me it'll stop, plzzzz. How long is this going to take? ?? xxx

Took me a couple of weeks to crack it at night. But to be honest i tackled the daytime naps at a later stage as my LO has always heated sleeping in the day. To be fair when she did start having problems in her cot it started quite suddenly as she had always slept through the night before, so it may take you a bit longer, stick with it babes, it will be worth it! Just dont leave hin on his own for too long crying otherwise he might get some freaky fear of his bed, he needs to know you are still there but that you are not gonna get him up.

I agree about the daytime nap. Although we cracked it with number one after about 3 nights of proper leaving him - I NEVER cracked the daytime nap. This is probably not what you want to hear, but I just coped with him grapping a daytime nap on couch, in car, in pram etc.
If I were you I wouldn't try and tackle all this in one. Some people have babies that like to sleep, and some have babies that don't. And believe me, now that I have 2 - one of each - I know the difference!
I would concentrate all your efforts on the nightime and let the day just go for a while. Stay strong with nights and just think that anything is better that what you had and it WILL improve.
Please keep with it and take care.

Hi Sarah I agree with the other girls on this one, as long as the nights are sorted then don't worry about day time naps, as I type my LO is sound asleep on the floor! She's happy, I'm happy, no worries! Don't give up if you can possibly keep going, my darling daughter had a massive glitch about a month ago - she was waking up inthe night and I couldn't get her to settle at bedtime, we didn't pander to her too much, she's fine now and goes down without a peep. There will be hurdles on the way and I know it's difficult to keep your cool when you're so so tired you could weep! Good luck, it does work and you're right, they get the hint that mummy is serious pretty quickly! xx

hey Girls,
He fell asleep at MILs night b4 last and he got put to him cot sleeping. He woke once and after a few whimpers he fell away again. Last night getting hair colour picked for wkend so was later back and he fell asleep in car again but woke for his bedtime feed and went straight to sleep. He slept thro till about5.30 and I fed him and he went back to sleep. I dont think I'm going to get beyond 5.30 without a feed. He doesnt get in the morning when he gets up so I can handle that.
The dif with last night was that b4 we left my aunt I gae ahim a tin of egg custard and rice. He was full and didnt need a feed till we got home. Maybe he needs something substancial b4 bedtime to get him thro. Hes just a greedy little pig I think!
As for the nap, well he was grumpy and fell asleep in my arms. I put him up to the cot where he is still asleep, but i doubt it'll be much longer hes had about 2 hrs. My eldest is lying on the sofa just now, and watching tv in the curlled up sleeptime way so hopefully he'll drop off and I'll cover him up and he'll have a good 2 hrs coz hes in a grumpy mood lol.
Wish me luck, I may just have cracked it! xxx

Meant to add this about daytime naps - don't listen to other people and how/where their kids sleep. I have a couple of friends whose kids go straight to their cot mid morning every day and fall straight to sleep..I'm happy for them but my wee one won't do that! As long as she gets her nap I couldn't care less if she's on a pillow on the floor!!!

Mine has always needed her pushchair or car seat before sleeping in the day, its only been the past few weeks i have got her to sleep in her cot in the day and then it has been an hour long fight!

Wow. This sounds like progress.
On food, I have always given my two a big supper. My second (who is 6 months) has a bottle and solid food (puree at 4pm). Then a solid feed (Puree) at 6pm and then a bottle at 6.15pm. He then sleeps through.
Make sure you are confident that he has had enough to eat then it is easier to leave them when they cry.
5.30am is OK I guess. Especially if they go back to sleep afterwards. I think it is more acceptable in the spring/summer cos you can just get up at that time and get on with things.
Agree with others about daytime naps. Some will sleep in cot - no probs, others wont. Number 2 goes to bed at 8.30am for about 1 and a half hours and then again at 11.30 for about 2 hours. No probs at all. Number one NEVER, EVER, EVER slept in his cot in day. But we got through it and he napped wherever he felt like. They are just all so very different and it is nightimes that are the priority for our sanity!
