Ahhh, well done Caz and Cavan! I wanted to ask about overnight potty training. My LO has refused to wear a nappy tonight - even a pull-up car-pants one. He insisted on wearing his Bob pants (Bob The Builder). I'm beginning to regret buying pants with pictures on now! This is the 3rd time he's refused to wear the pull-up nappy in bed, but only the first time I've given in. Bobyn, how often did you "lift" your little one in the night to put her on the potty? I'm so scared he'll wake and scream at me and just not settle again. Ought to go and lift him now, oh eck, wish me luck. This morning he woke at 5am and did a wee on the potty - the nappy wasn't dry though so he can't go through the whole night. But then refused to put pull-up pants on again and insisted on proper pants. I did get a pull-up nappy on him after a bit of a fight but he was then having a tantrum about it so I left the room. When he quietened down I came back and he was running round naked having taken his pyjamas and pull-up pants off and was putting on proper pants. That's why I gave in tonight, he would only have got changed anyway! But here's the thing - I couldn't be angry with him because he'd neatly put the pull-up pants back in the cupboard Any tips on overnight potty training gratefully received. He might think he's ready for this - but I'm not ready! Cheers, FloBob

try the mattress protectors from pampers, you can buy them online from boots or in the store. they go under the sheet but on top of the mattress, and will absorb anything. that way, he can still feel like a big boy, and you can protect the bed. give him a drink about an hour before you put him on the potty just before he goes to bed. then put him on the potty as soon as hes up and about. he will want to keep his pants dry, so give him a chance and see how it goes

I still have to take my 4 year old out of bed at 10.30 each night to make sure she doesn't wee the bed. Only that once before we go to bed though and that's enough to get her through til the morning. When we started overnight training, we were putting her to bed at 7ish and taking her at 9 and then 11. It was trial and error for a few weeks with how long she could go

Nope, we're just not ready for this yet. He's in nappies at night and will just have to get over it. I am too tired to be changing bed sheets in the night. Once he's properly dry in the day, we'll think again.
But thanks for your advice, I'll remember it when the time does come.
Oh God, Sianyc, still doing this at 4years! It would be fine if I stayed up later and could then just get him up when I go to bed ... but I'm often in bed by 9pm these days so it involves me waking up to get him up too. LOL

It took 3 years for my little boy to be dry at night (and for me to be feeling up to getting up in the night to change the bed etc.).
He occasionally has accidents now, but in general he can go 7.30-7.30. I must admit I was worried about him not wearing night pants and then one night I forgot to put them on him and he went through no probs, lol! x

Might have to start a thread about potty training from scratch. I am about to start with LO but havent a clue what I am doing! Have been and bought some pull up nappies, a toilet seat thing etc.. but not sure where to start!
