Are they like those Huggies pull ups? Arent they like pants? Or (and it may be a ball ache) you could just stick pants on him and put down one of those waterproof mattress protectors??

Seen those 'lightening McQueen', pull ups - or 'car pants' as we called them? They are skin tight I can tell you - nothing like a nappy, not even the absorbency - but that might just be my sumo wrestler.....'dry nites' are ok too x

Pampers sell night time pads in Boots or supermarkets. We use Mothercare ones that aren't like crunchy plastic so don't rustle and get hot, it was the Terry sheet one that seems the most comfy. It was only a few nights til our eldest got into the habit of not wetting the bed. Although we did 'lift her' to take her to the toilet half asleep when we went to bed for a long time as that helped her get through the night without an accident.

Hi Caz,
Great news about the potty success. I have to say I never had a problem all night as mine went dry day and night all in a matter of 2 days. I was one of the lucky ones.
However my aunts autistic child was a real struggle. He wet the bed for nights on end due to stress. He was a little one and didnt fit things like bedtime pants etc, either. He final idea was a type of pull up, which was really designed for day but worked enough alongside a terry type waterproof cover.. You do get those matress protectors but from what I have used they arent too good. They tend not to hold tooo much. But if you like the idea and he still wont wear anything other than pants. You do get similar ones through the hopital. I used them when my baby had an op. A friends chil had a similar op at 18m so used them for training too. they work much better. So if you had a means of getting thorugh the hospital or a hosp supplier (poss online???) then thats a good and cheaper way round it.
Good luck and keep your chin up, training is hard on mums, I looked after my aunts kids alot, and I know how stressful it is. You'll get there!
Sarah xx

ive ordered some pampers bed mats from boots. i got 2 packs so i can give them a 2-week trial. hopefully they should work. when he goes to bed atm he wears little walkers nappy pants but i think he would settle better if he was in pants with the potty next to the bed coz he really seems to know when he needs to go.

Go cold turkey hun. Its the simplest way and he will be happier.
Have to admit both mine trained day and night at the same time, not sure how it just happened that way. But basically I would suggest a pack of those absorbent things you said about along with an old towel or equivelent so you can protect the bed without having to lay him on a noisy and uncomfortable plastic cover. Be prepared to have to change the bed frequently if needed and leave a potty close by. I think you will be surprised. Good luck.

How did it go last night.
Have to say I agree with Giz, just go for it. He'll soon get used to not wanting a wet bed. My mum always said that was the best way.

the bed pads havent arrived yet so hes still in training pants, but hes in the habit of going to the loo before he gets into bed and as soon as hes up in the morning. but i was very pleased this am coz the training pants were dry, and he had a huge wee on the loo when he got up. as soon as the bed protectors get here he'll be in pants 24/7. i would love for him to be in pants now but i have no tumble dryer and no washing line so im very stuck for drying space
