Hi Caz.
Basically he is old enough to be at pre-school already, not sure if he is or not. You will get 5 free sessions a week from September.
The admission letter should arrive with you fairly soon. I can't remember excact dates as Jodie is 1 year and 1 day older than Cavan. You can check with a local school for peace of mind. Once arrived I find it is best do it straight away and on the internet (if your council offers this sevice) this way you find out quicker and are able to change your mind before the closing date if you need to.
I think it was November we found out what Nursery she was given and he would be due to start there in January 2009.
Hope this helps.

OK so I have just had a quick look for you. Sounds as though things are different near you and there is only one start date ie. all children start in September and there is no January intake. Anyway this is the site you need. You could emal them with his date of birth and ask them to be sure. www.somerset.gov.uk/somerset/learning/admissions/index.cfmHope I haven't confused you.

Don't worry too much as the Somerset County Council are good about sending you out all the details to your home address when you need to make the decision! It's worth looking at schools now though and getting your LO's name down the preschool for the school you want to go to as he'll be able to join there from this September. And when you fill in your form to select schools for proper school Sep 09 you can write reasons - which could be that he's at the preschool there so you want to continuity of care of letting him stay and move up into the main school.
Good luck, Bobyn
