Hi Kate
I do know how you feel -like what is the point and if no one else is going to help - why not give up?
But it is worth trying for you because the quicker you get well the quicker you can enjoy your baby.
The answer might not be to be hospitalized - especially after your dreadful experience -
but either way there must be a way to get the treatment and support you need.
But you do not have to just rely on your consultant only - you can go for a second opinion at any of the MBU Private or NHS and see if they will support you to get into their unit.
Why should you 'ride it out' there is help out there -
hard to get I know but it is possible And even if you decide not to go to a Unit that might be away from home you could still go once or twice as an out patient to one of these perinatal units that run outpatients
After all people travel many miles to get the sort of cancer treatment that they want ( a chap form my village used to travel to London every 2 weeks for his treatment because he found a hospital who gave him the treatment he wanted and the NHS supported his choice and paid for his treatment and his travel - this happens all the time with medical conditions
So why should PNI/PP be any different ?
I do know that you probably do not feel like traveling - I certainly did not when I was ill - but one trip to a differ tn consultant could make all the difference?
Ie Maudsly, Priory, Bethlem, Derbyshire I think have out patients for PNI/PP:

www.cygnethealth.co.uk/demo/clinics/godden_privatein.htmShall I contact them to see if they still offer the Mother and Baby Service?
Other than this there are some NHS facilities that offer a National service and while the person you see locally might be reluctant to do this, you are within your rights to get a second opinion and go and have a consultation with the consultants in these other Units.
I am sure I am probably going over old ground and you have contacted these units to see if they will see you to talk over your situation - but I thought it was worth giving you the contact details anyway:
I will ring them for you if you like - just to ask provisionally if they would see you. I do not know if this would help or be any different from you or your partner or a relative or friend contacting them - but I would just be happy to give it a try as we do now have NHS funding so they usually will speak to me at least.
