I went to a mum and baby group today. Was nice to get out and talk to a few people but because Im shy I didnt really talk too much. I think I was the youngest there everyone looked so much older.
I think I was the only one there that was bottle feeding and you should have seen the looks I got when I pulled out a bottle. You would think I was poisening josh lol cheeky buggers. It made me feel really bad and when I think about not breastfeeding I get a really sick feeling in my tummy. I feel so guilty and they didnt really help much.
Oh and another thing to feel guilty about. There was a lady that came from a re usable nappy laundry service and she was horrified by the fact we all didnt use re usable nappies. She was like do you know you are using 3 and a half trees by not using re usable ones. Oh well what a bad mummy I am not breast feeding and not using reusable nappies lol.

I breast fed for 1 week with my first now 13!!! and 21/2 weeks with my second now 5! I went to an NCT parenting class and it was aweful ! I had paid for this and I was the only one bottle feeding yes it is hard and I was 37! Some people are so judgemental -just do what is right and easy for you. life is hard enough as it is at times without such people.
You are a good mum and you care and you matter...

Hello Don't feel guilty - do what is right for you and Josh. If he's happy with a bottle then hurray! I know of 2 babies who wouldn't take a bottle at all and one mum was so anxious before returning to work and the other mum could never go out without baby. Very exhausting.
And the nappy lady was just horrified to guilt you all into spending money with her company! I tried a nappy laundry service early on but it didn't work out - too many leaky nappies - yeuch! And felt very guilty but I try to be "green" on other things and forgive myself for all the nappies in the meantime.

You know I attended mum and toddelr groups when my eldest was a LO and the mums weren't like that at all. Over here (Belgium) it seems more acceptable to bottle feed, and most do it because they want to get back to work quick. Even my frined a GP bottle fed hers. Sometimes the circumstances don't allow for it (for me it was ADs, else I would have BF). Don't worry in the least about it hun, my LO was bottle fed and my eldest breastfed, and there is NO difference between them. lol about the nappy lady, all that washing and drying, uses up a lot of electricity & I don't think that's environmentally friendly really. Thank God for disposables, that's what I say ~ best thing since sliced bread, and I am pretty environmentally friendly myself, I walk everywhere, I have 5 rubbish bins and sort my rubbish out each week, and I have economical light bulbs . My SIL used those terry ones donkey's years ago and the kids bums were always sore. Hurray for pampers!!!!!!

I have to admit thats excatly why i didn't go to many groups when mine were very small (plus my son's behaviour). I found alot of them were very clicky although there wasn't so many breastfeeding as I expected. I did join a breastfeeding club when my youngest was small, to try and keep it going (I did 4 weeks with my 1st and 8 weeks with my 2nd) There was one woman there who was very very green, she used those nappies as well, but her LO was always having to be changed she did at one point admit to using pampers when on holiday, but she was one of those perfectly organised people with loads of time on her hands, she didn't drive either or use a buggy and used to walk 2 miles to the club with baby strapped to her. I did admire her until we had a lady from the local radio turn up one day and interview us about BFing and she was very brutal in what she said about those who don't and basically did say we were poisoning them with chemicals etc. I got into quite a heated debate with her over it on the grounds of not everyone is medically able to.
Anyway sod the lot of them and get on with what is best for your kids. My GP bottle fed too. I hope you find a nicer group to go to though.
