Am thinking ahead. Is there any other charities that would be of interest to the public that would go with the PNI charity. Sorry to sound cryptic but am hoping to do something in a year or so's time and if we cant get the publicity ourselves then maybe if we were fundraising for a bigger charity too it would up our profile if that makes sense. Probably not made myself understood lol but oh well. Just looking for a well known charity that we could halve any fundraising with. Liz x

Hiya Liz
Not sure if it's what you mean - but MIND have agreed to come on board - we are just at the fine detail stage.
Is this what you meant, hugs as ever, Hx

Mmmm, so if I did something and the money raised went half to MIND and half to PNI, people will have heard of MIND as its already high profile. There are a few things in my life I have always wanted to do eg run a race ( which I am doing for the site already) and I have one more personal goal which is to walk John O Groats to Lands End. Yes I know I am a nutcase but have already looked into it a few years ago before everything went a bit mad. Now you see why it would be a year or so before I do it. Have already talked to hubby and we have spoke about either a walk or cycle and he will be my support. It would take some organising but I am thinking about maybe trying to get something in a few cities on the route to do an event and bring it all together. It may be a really big idea but I bet when this site started nobody knew how big it would be either Liz x

Hi Liz No, MIND are not asking for any pennies - they have just provisionally agreed to help us to promote the event Hx

No but if people know at least one of the charities you are raising money for they are more likely to give money than if they have not heard of you. Does that make any sense lol. It doesnt have to be mind but any charity that is maybe close to someones heart on here. Or I could just go all out for making sure everyone knows about this charity by the end of it Liz x

Well I have heard that there is a lovely lady down Cornwall way that I might get to meet on my journey I have spent so long putting others first that I am going to do all the things I always wanted to in my life before its too late. If I can hit my personal goals and raise awareness as I go then it makes it even more worthwhile. Liz x

Hi Liz it would be so great if you did the John O Groats to Lands End walk - or the other way around!! It would be lovely to meet you too. Do you know that the village I live in 'Porkellis' ( type TR13 0EE into google maps UK or multimap and you should find it ) is on the John O Groats to Lands End route? In fact the pub 'The Star Inn' www.ukpubfinder.com/pub/1303at the end of our lane is mentioned in any cyclists and walkers diaries. It usually comes under the Probus to Porkellis section if you are walking it www.totemic.co.uk/charity/progress.phpwww.bigduck.org.uk/LE96/letjog96.htmweb.ukonline.co.uk/tonywilson43/bplejogers/bplejogers-allanricketts.htmwww.bigduck.org.uk/LE96/letjog96.htmwww.beaconview.freeserve.co.uk/diary.htmwww.crazyguyonabike.com/doc/page/?o=QzzM&page_id=20254&v=9Kwww.herefordshireramblers.org.uk/lejog.htmwww.landsendjohnogroats.info/southwest_england/03_truro.htmlLook through the web sites above for the word Porkellis and you will find it at the beginning if your start as Lands end and at the end if you start from John O Groats I often in the summer have such walkers and cyclists using my fields as a night stop -over point - I have no proper camping facilities but I can supply a loo and water You could stay here for a night before going on to lands end or Visa versa - and of course you would not have to camp - I have spare rooms and or a lovely flat you could stay in. If you have been thinking about this walk anyway - why not do it for PNI . But I get your point about if you shared any proceeds ( and personally I am not bothered about any proceeds it would just be nice for someone to walk to raise awareness) with a bigger charity. but you may be surprised as the cause of PNI is becoming very 'popular' recently and you may find you get enough support if you just got sponsored for PNI - whether or not it was for this charity or not - just PNI has risen in charities that people support as late. but even if you did it for a completely different charity - anything that you wish to support would be great as far as I am concerned - you would of course be welcome to stay here for the night, plus anyone supporting you on your walk and to have my support. But it would be just great if your walk could be for PNI in general and our charity was mentioned . but I would say if you have been thinking of this for a while - why not go for it - whatever charity you sponsor while on the walk it will be a real adventure and I wish I was able to walk or I would join you - however I do ride a quad and I heard of someone disabled who did it on a quad? what about doing an article about this on the community site if and when you are ready to commit yourself ? as this may help to get sponsors and supporters but I think it is great - and wish I was up to doing it too - maybe some of us can join you for a short distance on your route - I could join you on my bicycle for a part of this area ? If a few of us joined you in our areas for a short time this would be great too Veritee XXXX

Well, what can I say. Thank you so much for the backing I would love to meet some of you on the route and could easily break it into smaller bits for others to join if they wish. Will see if I can get something on the community site later on today. I really understand about getting stronger when you live through something like PNI. I was thinking more of the future but will seriously look into doing it next year I would love to do it just for PNI and if you all think we can get coverage then I will push like mad to get support for it , maybe get a bigger company to support us in some way Good job I am back at the gym now isnt it lol, think I need to get in serious training. Liz I've just looked at the route and can quite safely say 'you've lost the plot girl' But seriously though, wow there's me thinking you were talking about a devon/cornwall walk and its well erm slightly longer than that isn't it Just been trying to think where I could join you not really near us at all, would have been great to have met up with you down by Veritee though. Will have to have a think, but quite honestly if you go ahead with this for PNI I will definatly join you at some point along the way, some how or another. You could get excellent coverage for this and turn it into a major event if everyone from here who is willing, able and well enough joins you for a short while and it is well enough publisised you could have people from all over the UK turn up to support you along the way and it would be a huge awareness event, rekon you could get on the TV with it dead easy. Hows the training going? ready yet? I'm quite excited about the whole idea now Oh yes route by the way for anyone else who is as ignorant as I am with their georgraphy www.landsendjohnogroats.info/route/google_maps.html

Right, hubby and I have been thinking about what would be different. I would still love to end up in Cornwall but am thinking of East to West across the country starting in Lowestoft/Great yarmouth direction. Just want to stand out and this would be different. May be cycling too. This could be an annual event ( now I have lost the plot) Am just throwing ideas around at the moment and any input would be appreciated. On this route I could probably meet up with a few of you down this way Liz x

Right, I am waiting to book but I will be doing a walk on 8th May ( I think, will double check. Its an organsied walk but a longish one. www.just-walk.co.uk/Thought this is an ideal way to up our profile a little as lots of other people will be there. We can also have the charity website put on the walk site which means it will get us some publicity that way too. I am still looking into the East to West walk too, its looking like its possible and if I do this other walk it will give us a bit more time for planning and getting a higher profile. Liz x
