Well I have two children, aged nearly 5 and nearly 2, and I would love another child. But Alan's not too up on the idea because he's scared I'll get ill again. My HV is no help, she said it would be irresponsible to even try for another child. Not very helpful.

I don't want to disshearten you but I think once someone has suffered with a form of depression or PNI once the chances of it recurring are quite high. I ran this one past my hubby, we are in no situation to have a 3rd anyway but his responce of if we were in a situation to have another was a very clear 'no chance' also because of the PNI returning. I have suffered with both of mine (was never fully recovered first time round). However there are 2 ways of looking at this, you have been there before as has your partner so therefore you both know what to look for, you can also bring it up with the midwife, to keep an eye on you to. This way if you were to get it again, you will be diagnosed quicker, will know what to do, and should therefore hopfully recover quicker.

HI susanne Great to hear from you and glad things are going well As for the chances of PNI again - yeah they can be much higher once you've had it once but there are no rules - I have a freind who had it with her first two and nothing with her thrid? Another who had it with her first and again sith 2nd. As Giz says - forewarned can be forearmed - you'll know if you're ready All the best yoyo x

The doctor said I'm at a high risk of getting both pre and post natal illness with another pregnancy. He also said he doesn't want us trying before we get the colposcopy results as it could be dangerous. He said they would probably want to refer me back to a psychiatrist when I get pregnant, and see him all the way through and for at least 6 months after the baby was born to make sure, and he also said he wouldn't just send me to a midwife, it would be a specialist team. So I've told Alan and we're gonna talk when we find out what's happening with the colposcopy.
