`you just need to pull yourself together'.
Oh really, hadn't thought about that. Crikey, isn't it easy? Snap, they you go, all pulled back together just like that.
MORONS.
Sorry, but it really is the most stupid thing to say that I have ever heard and quite frankly am sick of hearing it!

i had a real gem from my nan the other night. i rang her to thank her for the cheque she sent me to pay for the car, we were just chatting. mum had obviously told her that H had cancelled last week, not meaning anything nasty tho, just in conversation. so while i was chatting to nan she said "H didnt come then?" i said no, so she said "oh well she probably just didnt want to come and see you" i love her to bits but she cant half put her foot in it sometimes! shes in her 80s so shes one of the "suck it up and get on with it" generation lol
it really hurt me at the time but now i can laugh at it and say "its just nan!"

Another one is:
"I don't understand how you can be depressed when your child is so good"
Who said it was the child who caused the depression in the first place??!!

???Pull yourself together, go out and put some smart clothes on - when nothing fits you because you have lost 2 stone through stress, illness and no desire to eat at all!

"I don't understand how you can be depressed when your child is so good" Yes, I get that one - mostly from my husband but I think that is what everyone is thinking. It upsets me so much. I feel so guilty because he is such a lovely baby and I SHOULD be able to cope and I must be really CRAP if I can't cope with such a lovely baby - imagine how terrible I'd be if he cried all the time. Just been to hairdressers today which is always hard due to feeling ill with anxiety. Explained the situation to the hairdresser in case I had to leg it with foils in my hair, and here response was `well you seem fine to me.'. I mean for crying out load, I may seem fine but obviously I am not, otherwise I wouldn't be telling you this! AAGH

I work with americans and just got back to work after a month off. One of the team in the US asked me why I was off and I told her I had PNI. She told me that her daughter was in hospital for 10 days with 'baby blues' and still on meds (tried 3 meds before finding one that worked) 6 years later. Lots of love Carol

'Well you never seemed depressed to me.' Perhaps because I was a hermit and didn't leave the house or see anyone??? I didn't see this person for about 2 months...how would they know if I was bloody well depressed or not? AAAAAAARRRRRGGGGHHHHHH!!!!!

The most thing I've found to make me wanna cry or scream is when your baby is crying why do people feel the need to say does she need feeding, like I'm just going to let my baby starve and thats the only reason they think they cry, even women that have had babies should be a bit more considerate and say nothing or something positive as that woman might be feeling like most of us!!!!
