My LO has eczema and constantly ityches her self raw until she is bleeding...poor thing.
I have tried everything to stop her itching she even goes to bed in a body wrap (as the doctors recommended) but she still manages to get it off and itch. Everynight i put socks on her hands but she has got to that age that she just pulls them off. I'm stuck on how to break this itch cycle any ideas??
Also she is a nightmare...she hates the bath and just screams and screams, no matter what we do, the same when getting her changed she hates both. Could this be a behaviour thing as well?? I know her eczema is irritating which is part of it but now i am able to control her eczema a little more its not half as bad.
Sorry for going on Any help/advice would be greatfully recieved
ps no luck with those teeth

Anita,
Are you using creams hun.
On GMT about 4-5 weeks ago there was a dermotologist who had pioneerd this treatment and actually cured a girls ezcema who was shown on the programme (and many more by the sounds of it). He used a different combination of the creams, from what I remember...something to do with not applying them individually, but together and starting off with a lot of applications during the day and then reducing the applications after a few weeks. It was amazing the results he produced and he used the same method on his own child who suffered.... but for the life of me I can't remember his name. Gonna check out the GMT website for you and see if I can find it. He had his own website with the information on there, and you could maybe email him... nd then perhaps you can mention it to your own doc.
Hugs

Hi,
Yep using tons of creams which the docs gave us but they are doing nothing...she even has oilatum for the bath. I use the creams 4 times a day sometimes more depending how itchy she is. She also has steriod cream which i try not to use unles neccessary....i'm at my wits end with it. I have to keep her covered up day and night she is always in tights poor thing no matter how hot it is i have no choice otherwise she will rip herself to shreds. She is also allergic to loads of food wheat, soya, dairy, egg and nuts which i have excluded completly from her diet...it has helped a little but not alot.
If you can remember the docs name i would be grateful
Thanks Anita xxx

Awwh I just wanted to say I'm thinkin of you. That must be awful seeing your Lo in pain like that. I grew up with a girl who had eczema, and I remember her being in apin alot, esp her hands.
Scarlets doctor man sounds great. I really hope you find it and get something to help.
Try not to feel bad, i know putting her in tights in all weather sounds cruel but you are doing the best by her. You are just being a good mummy!
Sending my love Sarah x

I just thought, I remember when my cousin had chicken pox, my aunt put cotton mits on him and taped them round his wrists so they were tight and he couldnt pull them off. Maybe you could try that. If you can get her to stop scratching thro the night maybe she wont be so irritated by day and it will somehow help the cycle.
Good luck x

That doctor I saw on the telly was amazing, I couldn't believe the results and all he did was change the quantities of the creams and use them in a different way. Haven'e heard from GMTV yet, but will keep an eye. Have you heard of Atopiclair, I found this recent article which mentions using it for children. It's non steroid treatment. www.pr-inside.com/graceway-pharmaceuticals-reports-study-r615365.htmwhere to get it from, apparently it's on prescription as well www.atopiclair.co.uk/A new arrival for the treatment of eczema
Atopiclair is a new, non-steroidal cream that is designed to relieve the symptoms and signs of eczema (atopic dermatitis) and allergic dermatitis (contact dermatitis).
Clinical trials, in adults and children, have shown that Atopiclair relieves the itch and redness associated with eczema. These studies also demonstrated that patients using Atopiclair were significantly less likely to need a steroid treatment than patients using an emollient base cream.
Atopiclair is available on prescription in the UK or from your pharmacy. If you believe that you or your child may have eczema, seek advice from a medical professional before starting new treatment.
For more information on Atopiclair clinical trials, click here. If you do not find the information you need on these pages, click here to contact us: xxx
