Right then Miss Martha Louise Smith I must train you (in the voice of Arnie), it wont be easy, there will be tears and tantrums (mostly mine), but it will be done for the sake of my sanity, and soon my little beauty, you will sleep, YOU WILL SLEEP, and i too will sleep!
Sorry bout that little rant but ive had enough. Ive got to tame the beast so to speak cause im not gonna get fully better without sleep.
HV/sleep expert came round today, told her martha isnt going for more than an hour at a time, up and down all night, clawing at me for bitty and ending up in my bed, even then she doesnt sleep properly.
Apparently that first hour is light sleep and after this time instead of going into the deep sleep, shes waking and wanting to be comforted back to sleep, she needs to learn to get herself back, we all do this and dont always know it, we might turn over or something but then go back into a deep sleep, so this is what i need to train martha to do.
So here we are Night 1 of the controlled crying experiment.
Joe been moved up to the loft with Daniel, told them theyll just have to put up with it i need their help, they were really good at bedtime.
Martha fell asleep downstairs 8.30, took her to bed, just putting her in her cot when she jerked and i nearly dropped her, great, she kicked off big style. Took her down and F said to just breastfeed her downstairs before taking her up and not to feed her in her room.
She wouldnt go back to sleep for ages, then collapsed on my shoulder at about 10, i put her in cot, kicked off but i left and shut door, round 1. Had few more rounds with her, every time she went to sleep on my shoulder, just stood next to her cot with her in the dark, but as soon as i put her in she would do same, i then tried laying her down and she was clamped on my arm but settled, bit by bit (my back is killing me) i had to prise her off me and move her teddy in place of my arm, took ages, but she stayed asleep, then when i was coming upstairs she woke again, tried same again, didnt work, tried shoulder again, worked and shes now asleep, dont know for how long but had a lot of stuff in my head so needed to come here.
I know this is boring to anyone else but is a big deal that im not sleeping and also emptying my head of it all before bed helps.
Im shitting myself of the nights to come but i know itll be worth it in the end, ive got to stay strong , i cant be beaten by a 15 month old.
Gonna try to get some shuteye now before she wakes.
Fingers crossedxx
Nite nite bean x
