Ok I really need to help to get motivated to exercise and lose weight. And to stop comfort eating. I used to be stick insect weighed 9st - which was pretty good considering I'm 5'8 Now however after pregnancy and several years of medications including various anti-psychotics and after a LOT of comfort eating I now weigh 15st I want to lose weight, I want to look nice in my clothes, I want to be fit and active again but I can't get motivated and I really don't know where to start. Can anyone give me any ideas? Thanks Steph x

Well i am loosely followin the 1500 calorie a day diet.. It does work, when you stick to it! It is easy to do and you dont go hungry, my issue has always been the booze. I wille at about 900 cals but drink way over more than the other 600 every day! But if you are not a wine freak like me, I think it is a straight forward plan to follow..
Welcome to this section - we will do it!!
Love

I'm just a chocolate freal unfortunately!

Hi Steph,
Welcome to this section! You're in the right place.
You mention you were on anti-psychotics - did you have PP? I did, and those meds made me gain 3.5 stone! Yuk.
Well I've lost 1 1/2 stone using weight watchers online and I really recommend it. It costs £9.95 a month and is soooo easy to follow. You get a points allowance for the day (mine is 18) and then you just work out the points of everything you eat from the calories and saturated fat. The website lists how many points certain foods are in the points tracker. You can also buy a simple calculator for £12 to take chopping but Tesco Lighter Range has the points worked out and you can buy a lot of weight watcher food from bread and ready meals to cakes and biscuits.
I am a chocolate freak too and HAVE to have some every day. But as long as I don't go over my allowance it's ok to have what you want. I still eat crisps, chocolate and cakes! Not very healthy I know but hey I'm still losing weight. Some weeks when I don't stick to it I've put on which is disheartening but the next week I tend to lose it again.
Also, the only exercise I do is walking my toddler to the park on my days off (I know I should do more but I HATE exercise). That's the area that I need to work on, but for now I am happy to lose 1 or 2lb a week if I can on WW.
Good luck. Keep posting and let us know how you're doing. N x

Hi Natasha,
No didn't have PP just very severe depression with "a tendency towards psychotic episodes"??
Am now only on a low dose of anti-psychotics and don't think they are causing me too much of a problem.
I'm just not very good at staying motivated. Was really tired after work today and very grumpy (PMT etc) and the only thing that really cheered me up was maltesers!
There is no hope for me

Hi Steph
I have a friend on a diet whose weak point is sweet stuff so she buys all these weight watchers desserts. Tried them myself once - it was a chocolate thing but I cant remember what it was called - and only 100 cals in the whole desert! Perhaps something to look into??

Been a good girl today and been out for a nice walk with the pram and have eaten only healthy stuff. Just need to make it last longer than a day now lol

No naughty food for 3 days now!!!
Maybe that's why I'm such a miserable cow?

I get grumpy when I cut out sugary stuff too lol. I think its easier to lose heart when you think of it as a diet but if you just try and cut out things and do just a small extra bit of exercise then it will still make a difference. I am intending to get back on track so will be around in this section more Liz x

Yeah, I have the WW puddings, cakes and chocolate bars etc. They are really nice. Plus, fun size bars and bags of chocloate are really good and usually less than 3 weight watcher points.
