Hey Bubble, just wanted to pop in before I go off on hols for a couple of weeks. Its great to hear you are noticing a few less side effects from the tablets. Hopefully this will only continue to get better. I never had the lower abdo pain that you are talking about when on Prozac but have had ovarian cysts and other complications in that area so know how worrying it is. But you have done the right thing by talking to the doctor about it and booking that smear test..hopefully this will put your mind at rest.
I too have just finised reading the book by Cara Aitken and its a very good read, Veritees story is just amazing and I am so grateful for her for setting up this website after going through such a horrendous ordeal. It makes you feel that you are not alone and there are many other women out there who are suffering or have suffered and made a full recovery.
I so get the OH wanting to be the "fixer". My hubby drives himself mad because he cant make me better or take it away which is what he wants to do more than anything in the world...very frustrating for them but at least it shows that they care.
I hope the next few weeks continue to improve for you my sweet, will catch up with you when I get back, lots of love and hugs xxx

Hi Bubble
Yes Cara Aitken, she wrote it with Veritee I think. (correct me if I am wrong Vee).
I have also had reflexology as a complimentary therapy for my anxiety symptoms and found it has worked wonders! I also had it when I was struggling to conceive (PCOS) and as far as I am concerned it was the single factor in conception (well that and actually `doing the deed' of course!)
Hang in there hun, you are doing good, you clearly know what you need to be doing to get well and are doing it - a great start to recovery.
We are here and listening hun x

Hi bubble Sounds like your reflexology session went well (acupuncture is also something you may wish to consider?) I didn't have the lower abdo pain you mention but if your doc isn't too concerned and thinks it's your meds affecting your intestine then try not to worry too much. Great that the side effects are lessening too. As WG says, you're on your way to being well and we're here to help you all the way xx

Hi all Thank u for all your replies and support, its so lovely to have this site to come to! I have had some very good days since friday and the dizziness definitly seems to be calming down - bliss! I am still easily fatigued though and still have this strange feeling in my left abdomen and am now worring there is something wrong there! I don't think it can be a reaction to the fluoxetine as its very locallaised discomfort in one area. Its not a constant pain, or a pain that I would need to take anything for, more of a niggling on and off pain. My Husband said maybe its my insides coming back to normal after having baby, but that was 4 months ago now. Am reading the book still, and have just read Veritee's story, amazing how she got through it! what an inspiration! Am finding that fluoxetine is killing my appetite considerably, my friend suggested to me that I have an eating disorder after recently going out for a meal! I explained I have very low appetite on these, does any one else find this?
Hope everyone is having good days
Bubble. xxxx

Hi Bubble
I was initially on fluoxetine before swapping to a more suited one to me and also found it killed my appetite (def dont have that problem anymore tho - sadly for me!)
And it is a common side effect. If it doesnt get better in a couple of weeks I would go back to your GP and tell them what is going on, it might be that you need a different med.. but see how it goes as most side effects do eventually die down.
Thinking of you and you know where we are x

Hi bubble It's definitely the fluoxetine killing your appetite - if you're really worried then a trip to your GP might be in order to see if they can suggest another drug that suits you better - it can be trial and error sometimes until you find the drug for you. Hope you're ok chick x

Agree on the drug changing thing, have been through a lot too. SSRis of which Fluoxetine is one are known to have GI side effects so you should get it checked - that was the healthcare professional in me talking not as well controlled as WG

Hi all, Thanks for your suggestions, I think it is the fluoxetine killing my appetite, I am now making sure I remind myself to eat more regularly. Saw the doctor today about the strange stomach feelings, she said she is not sure if its the fluoxetine causing it as I have been on it for four weeks now and she said side effects should have worn off by now. She has ordered an abdominal ultrasound, and given me some other pills to take about one hour before I take fluoxetine to see if that eliminates the problem. It is meant to protect the gut, but I read the side effects and there are some really nasty possibilities, including colitis in rare cases, but common ones are nausea, vomiting headaches dizziness! so I don't really want to take them. She said putting me on a different pill will prob also irritate the gut sas they are all pretty much the same, but there is a liquid form of fluoxetine that might be an option. Its so wonderful not feeling dizzy anymore, but it seems like I have got rid of one ailment and replaced it with another!? don't get me wrong I would far rather have the niggling abdo feelings than dizziness any day, but I am now worrying what can be causing this, and should I stop taking the pills if they are irritating me, but if I do will I become dizzy again? Had my second reflexology today, which was really good, would def reccommend this to others. How is everyone else feeling? Kat how have you been recently? xxxx

Hi bubble
said I would write more over the weekend, however, my weekend has not really improved. So miserable with it, however, would love to hear how you are doing, how the drugs are working. How did the reflexology go, my mate is a reflexologist, but have never been, my feet are too skanky.
How are the kids? How is your husband? and most important of all how are you

Hi,
Sorry to hear you are not feeling too well at the moment, I hope things improve for you next week.
I have spent most of the weekend worrying about my lower abdominal pains, which have worsened very slightly, and I am getting that panicky feeling about what on earth could be wrong like I used to with the dizziness. I am worrying it may be cervical or womb cancer of some king, nervous that maybe I have got a prolapsed uterus, and just feeling generally panicky and scared. I don't think its the anti d's causing this discomfort as its very low down and I am not constipated at all or feeling bloated etc. Everything I look up seems to have other symptoms involved which I don't have, for example kidney stones/infection, bladder infection etc all note that you would have pain when urinating which I have not got at all. The discomfort is only on the lower left side, which is very localised so I really don't feel its GI effects from the meds. I am getting myself in a state over what it could be and worrying something awful might happen soon. I am desperate for them to do the ultrasound to check things. Sorry to go on, am just really worried now, it feels strange that I have finally been relieved of dizziness an awful symptom I have had for months, then I get a new problem to fret and worry about. The children are fine thankyou, and my Husband is wonderful as ever, what about you and you family?
Hope everyone is having a 'worry free' weekend!
Love Bubble. xxxx

Hi
Your abdo pain sounds really annoying - get yourself down the drs for reassurance because the longer you leave it the more it will upset you. It's highly unlikely to be anything worrying but i know from experience that you'll get more distressed. Illnesses are my 'thing' too , so Iknow exactly how you feel.

`Hi Bubble
Its really hard dealing with these concerns and waiting for tests, i can imagine that it is making you feel rough.
wonder how today went, did you speak to your GP about your pain? Pleased to here that you husband and kids are doing well. IO find the anxiety that PNI gives us one of the most difficult things to handle. Listening to you and Monica about worrying about having something else wrong with you is really common. A lot of my friends without PNI or any diagnosed mental illness spend there time worrying about these things.
I had a better day today, I keep a diary in the PNI section which I like to write in everyday. you might find it helpful too. sometimes I go back and look how I was two months ago and can see the improvement. If you feel up to it, you are more than welcome to make comments on mine.
Look after yourself and thinking of you

Hi Bubble
Health anxiety is another common theme with PNI - I practically lived in my surgery for 6 months! But that is not to say you should not get it all checked out. I had everything checked out with me whenever i was worried I had something wrong and never regret it for the piece of mind I got and I pay my taxes like everyone else!
How are you feeling now? Are you still experiencing the pains or have they eased off at all?
Take Care
WG xx
