Post Natal Autoimmune problems anyone?

I just wondered if anyone else on here has had physical illness symptoms since giving birth.

4 yrs ago following my 1st child I got - high blood pressure, developed an arrythmia, experienced rapid weight loss, visual problems, tingling limbs, to name a few.

Had my second child 8 months ago and developed anemia and neutropenia (low white cell count) which is now being investigated. I am also experiencing the visual problems again, weight loss etc.

thyroids have been checked and are normal. The only levels that are out are my iron level and my neutrophil count (white cells). And have been for over 6 months.

I'm also RH O Negative.

I noticed after my first child I would heal fine but since having my second wounds take longer to heal.

Anyone else experiencing similar since having a baby?

I'm sorry it's been a while since you posted without reply.

Unfortunately I have no medical experience so don't really know about the white blood cell count you have had. I had a miscarriage with very heavy blood loss and had a huge drop in white blood cell count (I think it was drop) which was attributed to the blood loss. Don't know if that helps.

However, my pni was started off and was plagued with strange physical symptoms. I developed strange visual effects incl blurry vision, slight double vision which i now suspect was do with my eye sight worsening. I got headaches (which I'd never suffered from before), tingling in different parts of my body as well as numb patches, a strange pressure sensation behind one of my eyes, shooting pains in my head and feeling really foggy headed (as if someone had stuck cotton wool in my head). Luckily my gp was very thorough and I had quite a few blood tests, CT scan of my sinuses and saw eye specialists - all tests came back negative and ultimately put all my symptoms down to pni.

Many women complain about the blurry vision and definately about the foggy headedness with pni. Apparently the latter is a common depression/anxiety sypmtom. Do you suffer with any of that?

It sounds as if you'e doing the right thing about having the symtpoms investigated just to rule out various possiblities. AFter all women can get physical problems after birth. What does your doctor think? did you bloods eventually recover after your first child.
