I have been suffering from PND now for roughly four months it has been a tough battle but I finally believe I am slowly getting there. However, I have noticed that at the beginning of each month I start to feel terrible again for about 7-10 days - I get realy emotional and every time I look at my daughter I feel tearful and worry about her constantly. I have never suffered from PMS before but obviously this is what I am suffering from at the moment. Has anyone else found this happened to them? It is so frustrating when you feel so good and then, bang, it hits you again and you feel like you are back to square one. Does anyone know of any remedies to help PMS that I could try. I am currently on a contraceptive implant and was told by my doctor that eventually my periods would cease and I would not get any symptons of PMS - roll on that time!!! Thanks Elaine

Dear Elaine, I know exactly what you mean. I had PND, and now feel OK a year after my baby was born, but I am now suffering the most horrendous pms. I never used to think it existed, but for two or three days a month, I am on edge, tearful, angry, and have the most awful moods. I have heared that evening primrose tablets work, but I can't say that they do, because I can't tkae them (I have epilepsy). It might be worth a go though, if you can take them. I'm sorry i can't give you any more advice, but I did want you to know that you're not alone, it has happened to me to. The only way I cope is by thinking to myself that it is down to pms, and not me being a bad mother, or horrible person, and that it wil pass. I also, try to do as much as possible on those days, I find it easier to control my tearfulness if I have someone else there. I hope that this helps Jo

Dear Jo Thanks for that - you're right about keeping yourself busy which is what I try to do also. What we women have to put up with. Thanks again Elaine

Dear Elaine I have just read your mail and i too have that problem. I gave birth in Jan 2000 and had PND diagnosed after 3 days. I now suffer from PMS awfully and have gone on the pill to control it. I started on Yasmin pill which has helped but I still get my days. Agnus Castus is a very good supplement for hormone upsets and also taking a good Vitamin B complex. I had symptoms of days 1 to 4 were bad, days 5 to 11 were better but not good days12 to 18 bad days 18 to 24 good good and day 24 on again as above. I hope youre feeling better it does get better as time goes on, i would love another baby but i am scared of PND again. Anyway take care... Clare
