Hi, I'm recent "realiser" of how real Post Natal Depression is, as I am now suffering from it.
I am from New Zealand, and I don't know whether it's just the country I'm in, but there is such a stigma attached to this condition. I feel so relieved that I now finally know why I am not the person I used to be, but I also feel so ashamed!
I have only been diagnosed after being like this and getting steadily worse for a year, and now I just don't know what to expect (eg:how is the fluoxetine 20mg going to help me?), am I actually going to become my "old self" again, or is that person dead like I feel that she is?
I just need somebody to tell me what might happen to me now, how to begin returning to "normal" (to be quite frank, particularly in regards to sex drive, which is non-existant!), and how to cope in a family and society in general that I feel just don't seem to think that this condition exists, or that if you have it, you're classed as a "nutter".
