Hi there
haven't written on here for a while but my recovery has progressed, albeit s-l-o-w-l- y but surely.
i just thought id let you all know that I have now qualified as a FE lecturer in english literature and have been offered a job teaching in my local college!
this just goes to prove that life does get back to normal.
this time 18 months ago i was so ill i was unable to leave the house, was having at least 5 panic attacks a day, had crippling anxiety to the point where i couldn't answer the phone or the front door...
i have just completed an intensive teacher training course ( which i began when i was about 70 per cent recovered) and am teaching people of all ages, have little anxiety (still have the odd stressfulweek) and would say that i am 99 per cent myself again
just wanted to let everyone know that i am living proof that it does and it will go away
gailxx
please excuse the bad english/grammar - i am typing in the dark and cannot see the keyboard!

Oh Gail That is great to hear I just got back - from a night out locally - and saw your post so wanted to reply. I am so pleased, that you have qualified and that things are so much better for you. Don't worry about still having some anxiety when you teach - well anyway, at least for me I do not think I was ever totally not anxious as a teacher or when I worked as a youth worker, but I think it helped to keep me on my toes and make me a good teacher as it meant I was never complacent. Its late for me and I have to go to bed now - but good on you - I am so glad to hear from you again and that things are going well for you Love and good wishes Veritee

Big CONGRATULATIONS Gail,
I'm so pleased for you and hope you will be very happy in your new job.
I know how hard it is living with anxiety so to hear that you have gone on to be a lecturer is wonderful.
There are things that I have wanted to do in the past (since pni), but always worried about the anxiety so didnt do them. Your story has given me some hope that maybe I can do things that are not in my comfort zone!
Thanks for that and congrats again. Love n hugs Cinders xx

BIG CONGRATULATIONS GAIL!! As Veritee says, teaching/ lecturing is stressful enough without PNI etc. to contend with. Well done, it's an inpsirational story

Awwwwwwww,
Thank you so much for your messages - i thought you had all forgotten about me!! I have been so busy with my course that I have been unable to visit the site as often as I would like, but will be able to more often from now on...
I cannot lie and say than the road to recovery has been easy or smoothe, or that there have not been some ups and downs (some bigger than others) over the past year - the reality is that some parts have been a bit of a struggle, and if it wasn't for the tireless and selfless support from Dylan I could not have coped.
Dylan has put his own career on hold to stay at home to look after Tlws so that I could get my life back on track and do this course, which has always been my ambition.
But I have done it - I have survived PNI and have achieved my all time ambition whilst in recovery.
Your life does not have to stay 'on hold'. You can do whatever you to. Don't let PNI hold you back!
I know it's easier said than done and I am here to offer support to those who need it. Honestly, I am still and always will be here for you all
