I had PNI with my first child, a boy, 16 years ago. It lasted for about 18 months. I had counseling which I did not like very much, but guess it must of helped. My second son was born two years later and I did not have PNI. I have just had another boy who is 6 months old and have PNI this time. Even though I have had it before I was still in denial that I had it this time and could accept that I did. I am slowly coming to terms with it now. It is very hard and I am going for counseling again.

I didn't have it with my first child, a boy, 9yrs ago but i had it with my daughter, 7yrs ago and have had it again after my youngest Nathan was born last July? ?? I didn't realise straightaway with my daughter that this is what i had as she was very ill for the first 6/7 months of her life but this time i knew the signs and symptoms. Not that it made it any easier to admit this is what i had?!

I have answered for two children.
This is because whilst in hindsight there were probably other contributory factors and also a huge question mark over what sort of depression or trauma I was suffering from...I definately suffered with two children...if that makes sense lol

First - Yes - Partner left me pregnant and with huge debts. 2nd - yes- baby would not breastfeed, only bonded with Daddy, failed to thrive - only accept milk from daddy - would not feed while daddy was at work all week. If Dad went away - would not feed for 3 days until Dad returned (probably picked up on my HUGE expectations that it would be better this time and of my belief that I was going to be abandoned) 3rd and 4th - babies died as miscarriages 5th (in 2 1/2 years) - I was severley anaemic, tired and sad. Each time - off work then returned to be given a different, cr*p job that was temporary. Result - PNI Sad Mum x

I have four children but have only had PNI with the last one. There is a big age gap, 16,14,12 and 5 months. I think there is a hormonal element as the pregnancy and postnatal period was very different but also I'm more isolated this time. I'm with a new partner too but he is much more supportive!
