Hi Carlie, I so understand what you mean about feeling you have a heart or neurological condition I have to say at this point that obviously I am no medical expert, but I have read that skipping heartbeats etc. can be linked to anxiety. But do check it out if you are concerned. I had a heart scan once and ECG twice. during my last pregnancy - all clear, but go ahead and push for this for peace of mind. I was checked for breathing, which was very shallow, hopefully your GP will do the right thing to put your mind at rest. Hopefulx

Hi Carlie As the all knowing and seeing guru on anxiety (I read alot of books ) yes, heart flutters etc are a common sympton of anxiety. However, I am also a firm believer in getting EVERYTHING checked out with your GP to be on the safe side - I have practically lived in my dr's surgery for the last year and half! WG x

Hi, thank you for ur replies. Hopefull, glad all was ok with you. I am going to call and book an appointment tomorrow. At one point i was in the doctors every week convinced i had somethin wrong cancer, brain tumour etc! Im doin pretty well havin not been to gp in about 4 months!!! If this is anxiety its a new symptom for me so i defo will go see gp, only thing is my gp is rubbish! she has never mentioned anxiety to me the whole time iv been ill, just checked for anything physical, said im ok and sent me on my way. I have had to do my own research to learn its anxiety and my care co ordinator also tells me it is. Bothe her and theropist think its anxiety. Winegirl, i did think u would be pretty clued up on this so glad u replied ; ) Lets hope we r right and it is anxiety. Defo need my mind put at rest, but also will try hard not to obsess or worry about it in the mean time. carlie x

Hi, its sounds like what I have, and its caused from anxiety which I didnt even know I had till this all happened, if its the same thing they are called benign ectopic beats, basically your heart skips a beat then has a bigger one, which feels like a double beat, this was my first symptom of PNI, very disconcerting but once I had all the heart scans ecgs etc and found out it was nothing serious I have learn't to not worry about them, and the more u worry about them the more of them u get, the best thing I did was go to my doctor to relieve the anxiety of what was wrong with my heart, I kept thinking I was going to have a heart attack or something. let us know how u go, Karen

Hiya Carlie, I had something similar and do still get sensations like this when I'm anxious. It's like a twitch around the heart, but I'm convinced it's anxiety. Do have it checked out by your doc if you are worried. I remember my hubby getting something similar a while back, and he went to the heart specialist over here who gave him an ECG and made him run on the treadmill. Turned out it was to do with stress at work.... Have you checked out this thread of anxiety symptoms. I notice it says that one of the symptoms can be "Heart - Irregular heart rhythms, flutters or ‘skipped’ beats, tickle in the chest that makes you cough" Here's the full list if you haven't already seen it hun veritee.proboards7.com/index.cgi?board=General&action=display&n=1&thread=4213Love and hugs Scarlet xxxxx

I too have had these funny heartbeat things - had read that this is a symptom of anxiety. In fact, I had these sort of things a few years ago and had an ECG then - the doc told me then that it is actually quite a common condition in young women, so nothing to worry about.
I agree on getting things checked out and I too am a regular visitor to my doctor - am having another blip this week after seeming to do quite well for nearly a month. I think these blips make you feel worse in some ways as you are used to feeling a bit more normal, and then you get cross that your anxiety hasn't gone away.

ladies u are all truely wonderfull, thank you so much for takin the time to read and give ur input. I learn new things about anxiety, pni etc all the time coming on here and it is such a comfort to know ppl also have experienced the same. U have all helped ease my mind so thank you. I will still visit the gp but i will try to put the worryin thoughts to rest as im finin the more i think about it the worse the heart beat gets!
Karen thanx for tellin me what they r, and thank you for sharing your knowledge of this with us. Its great that you can ignore it now, i do that with some of the old physical symptoms tht pop back now and again. This is a new one for me thts why iv been so worried.
Il check out tht thread thanx scarlet.
Hi carol, glad the thread has helped u out too! I have a appointment for weds next week so will post and let everyone know what they say. Altho im gonna call tomorrow to see if they have any cancelations.

hi carlie
this is one of my most major worries i have had with pni, well it was a worry i should say , what i have learnt through many visits and teats is that for some people actually alot of people missed heartbearts or quickening hearbeats can be perfectly normal and your diet can cause this to happen and if you think about it your diet does change after having a baby , you try to eat healthier if you can when pregnant and then with pni you feel rubbish so we tend to treat oursleves differently as regards what we eat and drink, but diet is a definite cause and so is anxiety and sometimes there is no cause ,chocolate and fuzzy drinks like coke can cause headaches and flutterings ,the doctor was telliong me about a a guy who wrote a book about his fascination with his heartbeat , he was always aware of it which can happen if your thinking about it alot,i still get them now where it misses beats and jumps about and i really dont worry about it anymore and it took alot yea you know visits and the doctors going on at me to convince me that my heart was fine but anyway just thought it might help to know my experience of this, hope you get some peace of mind over this very soon
