Hi
I've just been reading the information from my GP. It's about PMS and PDD (premenstrual dysphoric disorder). Just wondered if anyone had been diagnosed with this (PDD) after or during PNI?
Thanks, Hopefulx

My PNI is much worse just before and for the first few days of my period. I am full of anger and have a very very short fuse. I then get upset and can't stop thinking about how short-tempered and horrible I am.

It does seem to be trend for many women - PNI n PMT/PMS/PPD (and any other womeny things) not a good mix!!!!

hi, sorry to hijack the thread, but i was wondering whether you can get PMS whilst breastfeeding? do the same rules apply becaause i swear that i do get a time of the month, even though there is no actual bleeding.
i have a few days/ week where i feel really low like today and yesterday. it feels as though im back to square one. can anyone offer any advice?

Thank youxxx I am not sure if I have PDD - but am treated as such at the moment. I am meant to take prozac for one week before my period - hard to remember and ascertain dates as my period is not regular and my cycle is shortening at the moment. I am not supposed to take an form of hormonal contraceptive and I don't. The article you cited is really helpful, thanks. The one my GP gave to me is the MeReC Bulletin Volume 13 no. 3. It's only hard copy I'm afraid so can't put a link - but thanks alot for yours. Thanks Take care, Love Hx

Hiya,
I am still getting horrendous pms every month and its not funny. I never suffered before I had my daughter so can only think it has something to do with having had pni/or to do with a hormone imbalance??
I'm off to see my GP next week to see if they can recommend something. My daughter is four now so I hope there is something they can suggest cause I hate those days before and during my period, where I feel like kak again!!!
Hope everyone else is doing well...thinking of ya...Love n hugs Cinders xxx

hi there with my first baby had very severe pni, 4 years on i had my second child 4 months ago. i was ok up until my first period it was very heavy and i was also anemic, it sent me plummeting again i felt very low, crying, mood swings, kept thinking there was something wrong with me like a brain tumor or something, a week Or so later i was fine still felt a little weak and headache. I did go to the docs and he said it was properly low iron and heavy period that did it and 2 give it 10 days and c how i get on. I was fine so never went back. Then my second heavy period came and again got very low and crying and felt ill in the mornings, headaches, pains in stomaches, thoughts that i had a serious illness, went back 2 docs and he said i had PMS and has put me on a hormone pill and suggested vitamin b6. I am 2 days past my period stopping and am starting to feel a bit better, i now have 2 wait till day 16 to start these tablets 2 c if they work and 2 c if it is pmt and not pni coming back.
do u think it is pmt rather then pni.
xxx

Hi tracy
So sorry you're having a tough time again. I know it's really frustrating but we'd advise you to keep in close contact with your GP, they'll check other issues out and rule out things that may be on your mind.
In my expereince PMT & PNI can at times be very similar - I have a definite relationship between the two - but I am currently still in recovery from PNI,
It is worth trying the vitamin supplements - anything that helps the body has got to be a good thing.
Anaemia is also similar at times to drepssion / pni recovery symtoms etc - so well wroth keeping a diary and talking it through with your gpo.
Keep talking here - I'm sure it'll help you x x
