Hi,
My hubby saw this in the paper today - 'mother held after baby is dropped out of first floor clinic window'.
I think it was in East Sussex.
Did any one else read about this?

Hi JDM, It was on p.25 Daily Mail, Thursday (goes to show how long it took us to read it Kids) The 29 year old lady was in a M&BU in East Sussex and behaved 'unexpectedly' by dropping her son from the first flooor window. Thinking of her & son, Hopefulxxxxxx

Oh no, that is awful my heart breaks for them. When will this terrible illness ever stop? It makes me feel really sad for them. I really hope she gets the help she deserves.

Dear All This is a truly awful story/event to read especially if you have or have suffered PNI The story can be found here, I read it while away: www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/articles/news/news.html?in_article_id=460358&in_page_id=1770But I hope everyone bears in mind that this sort of event is pretty rare and even more rarely associated with women with PNI and my thought was that this unit deals with women with PNI but also women with PNI who also have a much more complicated mental history than PNI alone ( I have been in touch with the Eastbourne Clinic in the past and they are a privately run clinic but will take those referred and paid for by the NHS who have multiple difficulties and whose health trust do not have the facilities to help them ) Women also come from all parts of the world to go to this clinic, not just the UK. So it was my assumption - which of course may be wrong - that if a mother at this clinic did indeed drop her baby off of a balcony deliberately then she may have more mental health difficulties than PNI alone. Of course this may not be so but something like this is just so unusual that it has to be considered. It is more usual for a mother to try to kill herself or in very rare occasions herself and her child. My cousin suffered PNI badly over 25 years ago and she too threw herself and her baby out of a window - thankfully they both survived and the baby is now fully grown up and she is fine - but anything like this and trying to hurt only the baby is so rare. Obviously their is always going to be one or two women with PNI every 10 years or so that do something this drastic but there are always those that do in life in general without PNI. It is just so sad for this mother and of course the child and the rest of their family I am grateful that this happens so rarely and is rarely due to PNI alone Love to you all Veritee
