Hi
Just wanted to post a thread to see how long some of you have suffered from pni? Whether you got it with your first or second or third etc Also anything that prepared or prevented you from getting it again?
I have had it with my first baby for about 6 months and feel I am about 75-80% receovered.

Hi Smiley, For me it's been 18 months so far. I didn't get it with my first only my second, and this time around my life had become much more complicated and my baby was totally unexpected. I had pregnancy complications as well which resulted in me having to spend 3 months on bedrest. I think the only thing that would prevent me from getting it again would be if hubby went for a vasectomy Seriously though I think having a support network around you when you are pregnant and after your baby is born is hugely beneficial and I have friends who have gone on to have another one or even two more children after a first bout of PNI and they didn't get it a second time. You are doing fantastically well to be 75-80% recovered so soon hun and you will soon be 100% no worries about that. Hugs Scarlet X

Oh Scarlet you are such a sweetie and so brave! I have so much respect 4u and you sound like such a wonderful person!
Yes I am abit worried about having it again actually. I know I could cope with it better as I know what to expect and wont be scared out of my wits but I dont really want to have to go thr all this rubbish again and miss out on the months again. You see I did have a brilliant pregnancy, good support network too after the birth.. I dont know what went wrong??
I am starting to put it down to stress of premature baby, stress of sleep deprievation and hormonal fluctuations and also maybe a trigger of childhold traumas.. I can only guess hey? Well sleep deprievation and hormonal fluctuations will still be there next time wont they?!!
Lets see and deal with this first hey..

Hi Smiley, The first time round I think I had it for about 2 years although I came off the meds and pretended to everyone I was ok after about 9 months or so. It's only with hindsight that I can see that probably hindered my recovery and this time round I'm being far more open to the PNI and getting as much support as I can and I feel 100 times better than I did after 4 months the first time round. Fingers crossed for a speedier recovery, but however long it takes at least I know I've survived it once and will do again. Love, Bobs

I'm off the meds and mostly doing well apart from small blips and the little one is 26 months old. Up to her being about 17 months were worse and after that it was definate recovery until I came off meds 2 months ago.
God that sounds horrible written down

Sounds fine Siany, and well done for coming off the ADs.

Bobyn, I'm the same, I pretended to everyone that I was OK and fully recovered after about 8/9 months as well.
