Cyclogest, what do others think???

I have just read some info on the progesterone pessaries called Cyclogest and the side effects are :

Side-effects of progesterone may include gastro-intestinal disturbances, acne, fluid retention or oedema, mass gain, allergic skin rashes or urticaria, mental depression, breast changes including discomfort or less frequently gynaecomastia and changes in libido. Alterations in liver function tests have been reported and jaundice has been reported less frequently.


I think I could cope with all of these BAR mental depression!!! How can Cyclogest be any good if it's side effects are the very symptoms I am trying to escape???I want to try them but this puts me off entirely!!!! What do others think??

Catherine, about the cyclogest.
The reason the 'mental/depressive' symptoms is on there is because of a couple of things.

1.If you have the cyclogest for PMS it could make the low mood aspect of it worse.
2.If you take it for another reason say with or for HRT
it could give you the mood swings associated with the hormone progesterone.
Progesterone isn't fully/scientificley proven to relieve PNT or PNI it has worked in some women but has made some others worse. 3. The drug company are covering themselves against any litigation if you sued them to say ''it made me suffer depression''.!! They put everything in to prevent law suits!
