Hi everyone
I have just gone through a really bad 9 months of pnd. I denied it as I did not get this with my other two children and let it esculate for 7 months and then I sort help when I could not get myself through another day. I refused antidepressants and sort the help of an excellent homeopath. 2 months down the line I am a different person. I don't think that I am in the clear yet, but each day is better than the last and I really did feel a change from day one. I laughed the other day and it felt great, I am regaining an interest in life and when I wake up on a morning I no longer dread the next 12 hours until my husband comes home from work. My energy levels have increased and I really feel like I will be ok, something I never felt when the pnd was at its worst.
I'm not saying that there is a miracle cure, but it has definately worked for me.
I would love to hear if anyone else has used alternate medicine to treat this.

Hi everyone again
I've just read what I wrote earlier and so sorry to anyone if it seems like I was bragging, it was the last thing that I wanted my message to sound like. I really did have pnd to a severe level and it has taken me two months to have the courage to post a thread on here to let people know that Homeopathy had really helped me, I know how people dismiss alternate medicines and I didn't want to pee anyone off. Basically that was the only point to my message to say that something other than the dreaded anti d's is out there for people, although obviously I can't guarantee it will work. The Homepath I used was very clued up and had treated people with pnd before, she had also recently read further case studies on pnd when I went to see her, she told me straight away she could help me and that I had to cope in the meantime, believe that things would improve (as this was one of the worst things about pnd for me, believing that I would never feel like me again), get lots of rest (fat chance with little ones running around!) until my body started to heal itself once I had taken the tablets she prescribed. The first few weeks were difficult because I was really struggling but because I felt a little different each day I perservered and now I am so much better than I was. I still have the mind fog and bad temper though and I keep myself away from any exhausting situations and I have still to see if my horrendous pmt has improved when my next period arrives. I also still feel like there is a veil in between me and reality but it all really is fading with each day.
I truly only wrote this to offer hope and encouragement and not to be insensitive. If anyone needs further info on what was prescribed etc, let me know.
bye ariana

Hi Ariana
I don't think anyone would think you were bragging. I for one felt so pleased for you. The fact you are feeling better is fantastic and good on you for sharing that with us.
I would be very interested to hear about your homeopathy remedies as although I believe I am now over the worst of pnd and am off the anti-d's, I still get dreadful PMS and do get a bit stressy and panicky if I have a bad day during that time.
I have heard great stories about homeopathy treatment. My brother is very complimentary towards it (of cours he doesn't have pnd!) but he suggested this when I was at my very worse but I never took up on it.
I would love to hear about it if you could give me some details that would be great. Anything to help reduce this terrible pms, which I never suffered with before my little treasure was born.
Keep posting and never apologise for celebrating your recovery - good for you!!
With love
Lainey xxx

hello Ariana,
i am glad you have had help with the PNI but could you tell me what you were treated with at what dose and how it works? Could your homeopath send me details about her work with PNI/PND women and how her medicine works? I would be very interested to hear this from a scientific point of view. Please ask her to e-mail me at: djmg@btopenworld.com or get her to call me on the Helpline and i can call her back to discuss this further. 01335-347599 Thanks! Deborah x

hi ariana,
first of all, well done for persevering with a treatment you've found to work for you, you didn't sound like you were bragging at all, quite the opposite! i think it's wonderful that you are getting better with each passing day and am truly pleased for you. could you let me know what it is you were taking if that's ok? i don't really know much about homeopathy but it's something i'd like to look into, as the side effects i'm getting from the anti-d's don't seem to be easing off, and i'm fed up of shaking like a jelly all the time!

Hi everyone Deborah, the homepath that I used is on holiday at the moment, my next appointment is on the 18th August, I will take your info and the website information and ask her to get in touch with you, I did mention this site to her when I had my last appointment and I had said that if I felt sufficient benefit from the pills she prescribed I definately would be posting a message to try to help other sufferers, she was completely positive about this and stated how so few people know the benefits of homeopathy and how affective it is in treating PNI, hormone problems, pmt and all the other bloody problems that we women have to suffer. Info on Homeopathy:- Homeopathy works on the basis of treating the whole person rather than just an isolated part of the body. It seeks to treat the underlying condition or cause of the illness instead of simply supressing the symptoms, hence it works with the body and not against it, allowing the body to gain strength and correct any imbalances that it may have. Homepaths aim to help their patients achieve freedom from limitation in their lives and ideally to reach a level of health where they are no longer dependent on any medicine or therapy. Homepaths do not treat physical, emotional and mental or even spiritual illnesses separately, but regard them as intimately connected, since all are aspects of the whole of the patients suffering. When you go see an homepath your first consultation last for about 1 and a half hours. They ask you many many questions to find out everything about you physically emotionally and your life style and how you personally deal with things, then they go away decide on a remedy specifically for you and send it to you through the post. Remedies are made up on an individual basis therefore five people with the same illness can be treated with different pills. I was treated with something called sep 30, which was three small tablets that I took over 24 hours. This doesn't mean to say that sep 30 is a cure for pni, it is just what was prescribed for me. The remedies prescribed are based on the principle that like cures like, and stimulate the body to heal itself. Some people when they take the remedies feel an immediate surge of well being and others may feel very tired and need to rest for a couple of days, sometimes initially your symptoms become worse, this happened to me for the first 3 days and then I improved. I think that is is best to read up on homepathy and then if you want to give it a try find a registered homepath in your area and find out if they have treated pni before. Their remedies are non addictive and don't have any side effects and don't interfere with any other medicines that you are taking, so there is not much to lose really, other than the fee which is usually around £60 to £95 for the first consulation and then £35ish (monthly) after that. try www.homepathy-soh.org and www.trusthomeopathy.orgLainey, I have also been suffering with dreadful pmt since the birth of my last son and feel as though although I am over the worst I am not in the clear yet, I have yet to go through pmt since seeing the homepath last time so we shall see if it has helped there. My next appointment is in two weeks time, you usually see them, take the remedy and then allow you body to react and start healing itself over four weeks and then go back and go from there. I have been twice now and when I look back at how I was the first time I saw her I can hardly believe that the little pills have brought me this far forward but they have. I truly felt that I could not go another day and spent most of my time in the consultation crying. I would definately give it a shot for the pmt. I live in Leeds so can pass on details of the Holistic centre I use, and I have also heard of a top Homeopath who lives in wakefield, who has written many books and a colleague used him for pni and had success. So if anyone wants their details let me know. Will have to go, I'm exhausted after such a long posting! Ariana

I wish I wasn't dependant on tablets to function.I know anti depressants aren't supposed to be addictive but the state I'm in if I can't get to see the gp When I'm neally out of them is dreadful...I end up having a mini break down which can take days to recover from. I wish I'd never got into being trapped takin them and I feel I'll be taking them for the rest of my life. I have had experience of a number of complimentary therapies, meditation,Rieki, accupunture, indian head massage, aromotherapy, art therapy,crystals,religion..you name it I've tried it(as well as personal centred couselling, cat, group therapy, sleeping tablets and red wine. Maybe I've ODed on therapies so need a total detox!.It's important to concentrate on one thing though I am a different person to the empty shell I was when first diagnosed with PND 8yrs ago. It's like all the self help books I'm waiting to read, hopefully they will flow into me just by sitting on my shelf.detox

Mel, look at what your local sure start have to offer. I too have a tight budget..Community course are ripe in our community.I don't know what facilities are open to others as I only have my experiences to go on.The toddler group Itook Dylan too from a few months old put on an aromatherpy course. I only found out by another mum saying how useful lavender was and life long learning has provided other courses. We are in quite a run bown area in Liverpool. And I've used the mental health service whose day centres use a lot of complimentary therapies. I wish I could have the money to go for a full treatment of accoputour,or a full healing of Riekie. Even training as a concellor is so expensive.
These therapies should be available on the nhs ,
and would be cheaper than pumping us up with anti-depresssants and pumping our stomaches, though anti-des they put you on a heart-monitor and wait for a heart attack! PS a od of sleeping tablets let you sleep longer not go ina deeper sleep and drift off.....
I'm sorry.....
